Lies Of P Is Launching On September 19, Demo Available Today

Summer Game Fest is finally here, and with it comes a flurry of exciting announcements regarding some of this year’s most interesting titles, as well as some big surprises. One such announcement was a release date for Bloodborne-esque soulslike title Lies of P, which will be launching on September 19 later this year for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Not only that, but Lies of P developer Neowiz Games has also announced that the game is getting a demo for you to try out, which is actually available right this second. It’s a pretty chunky demo too, as it contains several hours of content for you to get a good sense of what the final game will be like when it launches. There are also a couple of epic bosses for you to clash with too, along with a handful of weapons to try out, and a look at the Weapon Assemble system.

For those that may not have heard of Lies of P until today, the game is inspired by the story of Pinocchio and takes place in the puppet-infestred city of Krat. You play as the titular P, who is on a mission to find Gepetto in order to become human. Being a soulslike, you can expect some intense, fast-paced gameplay, some tough as nails bosses, and a whole lot of swearing as you lose your precious resources before you manage to reach a bonfire. Pretty standard stuff.

While it’s heavily inspired by Pinocchio, once glance at the game’s trailer should also tip you off that Bloodborne has clearly had some influence as well. In fact, game director Choi Ji-Won is on record stating that he’s actually an extremely big fan of the title, and that all the comparisons to Bloodborne when it was first revealed had the team at Neowiz Games feeling “very honored.” If they manage to recreate even half the game that Bloodborne is, then they should be feeling very proud of themselves.

As for the other big announcements during Summer Game Fest, we saw an in-depth gameplay trailer for Mortal Kombat 1, as well as the announcement of a brand new 2D Sonic game called Sonic Superstars. We also got a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and the reveal that it will be the first PS5 game on two discs, the return of the Prince of Persia series with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, and a release date and gameplay trailer for Like A Dragon: Gaiden, which launches later this year.
