Resident Evil Wants To Know Which Remakes Fans Want Next

It’s safe to say that Resident Evil 4 Remake was an overwhelming success for Capcom, signaling that there’s plenty of fans out there happy to revisit upgraded versions of the classic titles we remember so fondly. After launch, fans quickly began discussing which games in the series Capcom should remake next, something which the developer itself is now also very interested in learning.

In a recent survey released by Capcom asking fans about the series, there’s a variety of questions presented to gauge the overall interest in Resident Evil from a variety of people. Most of the questions are fairly standard, except one towards the end which straight up just asks which games from the Resident Evil franchise fans would like to see remade, giving those participating a blank box to comment in rather than a pre-selected list of games.

Given how popular that Resident Evil 4 Remake is, as well as all the remakes prior to that, it’s very likely that Capcom is going to keep the gravy train going if it keeps bringing in the cash and critical acclaim. However, next on the docket is Resident Evil 5, a title that isn’t really as loved as much as the first four. It’s possible that Capcom could buck its own trend and choose to remake a game outside of the mainline titles, and the developer simply asking which ones they want to see remade suggests it’s open to revisiting titles outside of the numbered games.

Resident Evil survey

The easy and most popular answer is Resident Evil: Code Veronica, a game that takes place after the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3 and has Claire Redfield visiting an Umbrella facility in Paris during the search for her brother Chris. Fans have already expressed their desire for a remake of the title, as has Claire Redfield voice actor Stephanie Panisello herself, who recently told TheGamer that it “could probably use that extra TLC”.

Unfortunately, only Capcom knows what the future of the Resident Evil series holds, as Ethan Winters’ storyline was wrapped up in Resident Evil Village and we obviously won’t be getting a new remake for at least a couple of years. Given the succes and polish of the recent remakes, many fans think that the series should go back to third-person for Resident Evil 9, although some think that the first-person perspective lends itself better to horror a little better. Either way, Resident Evil is in a great place right now, and it seem like Capcom can do no wrong at the moment.
