As announced, Niantic emphasized that they now solely control and run the application process. Applications are no longer required to consult, visit, or utilize external websites or resources. Additionally, the community size requirement has been decreased to 10 people.

As part of the application process, applicants must host four local Pokémon GO community events, which may include Community Day or Raid Day gatherings, trading meetups, GO Battle League tournaments, and local, in-person Pokémon GO Fest celebrations.
