Pokemon Legends: ZA fans are debating the many possibilities for new and returning Pokemon, and as usual, Charizard is the center of much controversy. How Pokemon experimenting with giving new versions to old favorites, fans are wondering what new versions could be on the table for Charizard in Pokemon Legends: ZA.
As the first sequel in Legends subseries with Pokemon games, players don't know what to expect Pokemon Legends ZA. Legends: Arceus might give some clues by looking at what pokemon are back and what new forms they got, but because Legends: Z.A it looks like the settings are so different, it's not clear how this game will handle the new forms. After the introduction of convergent evolutions in Gen 9, some fans would like to see more classic Pokemon get this treatment. But between convergent, regional, ancient, and future forms of paradox, it's unclear which path developers are likely to take. But when it comes to fan favorites like the Charmander line, convergent evolution may not be in the cards.
The Case for Charizard's Return in Legends: ZA
With no confirmation that the Charmander line will be returning at all, it may seem early to start arguing about Charizard's fate, but it's a safe bet that the line will be in the game in some form or another. Considered one of the most popular Pokemon, Charizard would seem like a waste Legends: Z.A. Given the presence of the original starting trio in the Pokemon X and Ynaturally these lines could have been introduced into the wilds of the Kalos region. Therefore, with Legends: Z.A supposed to happen in the future, it's a logical leap to believe that Kalos now has wild Charmander roaming around. Since Mega Evolutions are also set to return, it's likely that all Pokemon capable of Mega Evolution will appear in Legends: Z.A.
What new form can Charizard take
So Charizard's appearance is almost sure to have fans wondering what new form he will be getting. The idea of a convergent Charmander line seems natural. After all, this concept was introduced quite recently, but it raises some problems. Converged Pokemon like Wiglett and Toedscool are similar to their original versions, but are distinctly different Pokemon. With that being said, it would be impossible for some fans to be upset if a Charizard-like Pokemon appeared instead of the one players are used to. Some hope to see Charmander as a starter Legends: Z.Abut it's a similar problem. U Legends: Arceuseach of the starters received new versions of their ultimate evolution, and developing a brand new Charizard comes with some dangers.
Any new Charizard design is likely to be scrutinized by fans, and if the final product could cause outrage in Pokemon community regardless of how it is done. For this reason, it seems like the safest choice would be to give Charizard a new Mega Evolution, if anything at all. Return of Art X and Y mechanics have been teased, and new Mega Evolutions are expected. Charizard has already received two Mega Evolutions, one for Pokemon Xand one for Pokemon Y. And some believe it Legends: Z.A represents a Pokemon Zthat fans wanted but never got, this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce a third mega evolution for what would be the third game in the line.
Players will have to wait until next year to find out how the Charmander line is handled Legends: Z.Abut as such a popular Pokemon, it's unlikely that it won't get some extra attention. With the nature of time travel Legends of Pokemon series, it's even possible that Charizard could get Paradox forms, though fans have been mixed on them. Pokemon Legends: ZA has a lot of potential, and whatever form Charizard takes, players are likely eager to see that potential realized.
