Yakuza pirate used to roast skull and bones in Hawaii ship fight

Summary

  • Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii recently showed off its goofy ship combat, which immediately made people joke about Ubisoft's Skull & Bones.

  • Twitter is full of people making fun of Skull & Bones right now, many surprised that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios is making a proper successor to Black Flag.

  • Even the comments section of a recent YouTube showcase is filled with people roasting Skull & Bones to high heaven. Poor Ubisoft.

Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is one of several pirate-themed video games released in the last few years, though it's arguably the funniest. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios showed this off nicely at their recent demo event, giving us a better look at all the systems in the game, as well as some more silly ship battles.

However, despite looking incredibly silly, comparisons have already been drawn to Ubisoft's Skull & Bones title, which has gone from sinking ship to shipwreck over the past year. Not only did Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii look like it took the game's ship combat and made it ridiculous, but it even seemed to build on it, allowing you to board and fight the crew of an enemy ship.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza Pirate Ship Battle in Hawaii Used to Roast Skull and Bones

it looks so impressive that people immediately flocked to social media after the demo ended to stick a knife in Skull & Bones and give it a good, strong spin as the title was roasted to hell and back. You'll find plenty of tweets mocking Ubisoft (like the one posted by Twitter user Rock Solid above) for failing to create a successful, big-budget spiritual successor to Black Flag, while Ryu Ga Gotoku potentially did in part time and money.

Like A Dragon has quietly become the Assassin's Creed of this generation

As a series, they've usually stuck to one location, but now they can go anywhere – opening the door to so many new possibilities!

In tweets that are simply positive about Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and even in the comments for the game's recent demo, you'll find tons of people replying with words like “Skull and Bones could never” and what , that Skull and Bones wishes it could be. It's extremely easy to compare and Ubisoft looks ugly in them.

Luckily, we don't even have to wait that long to get our hands on Majima's little seafaring adventure, as Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii launches next month on February 21st. It was also confirmed during the show that you don't need to pay for New Game Plus this time around, which caused a bit of a stir when Infinite Wealth launched last year.
