Key conclusions
- The new Vesper's Host dungeon introduces new gear, four new legendary weapons, and the Icebreaker as an exotic.
- The Bray Legacy Origin trait is one of the best in Destiny 2.
- Weapons like VS Velocity Baton and VS Chill Inhibitor make the dungeon worth the loot.
Vesper's Host was the first dungeon to feature competitive mode and brought the famous Icebreaker back to Destiny 2 finally, as his exotic fall. In addition to the exotic sniper rifle, players can also get their hands on a brand new set of armor and four new legendary weapons. There is a rumble in the dungeon that allows players to focus on one specific weapon per pass through a secret chest, which will definitely make farming that weapon easier.

Destiny 2: How to get Ice Breaker
The Ice Breaker has made a triumphant return to Destiny 2, and here's how you can get your hands on this exotic sniper rifle.
Overall, all of Vesper's Host weapons are excellent archetypes. There are no swords and glaives to contaminate the loot this time around, but players need to be selective and discerning about bonuses, especially for weapons that are a little lower on the list. All four weapons come with new ones Trait of origin of the Bray heritagewhich is quite powerful as dealing any damage with this weapon creates a bit of ability energy for the ability closest to full charge. Without further ado, here's how Vesper's Host weapons rank in terms of perk strength and usefulness in PVE.
4 VS Gravitational Arrest
Void Fusion rifle with stiff competition
- God Roll: Repulsor Brace & Withering Gaze
At the bottom of the pack is the Void Fusion Rifle from the dungeon, the VS Gravitic Arrest. There are already several other fusion rifles that compete with this one, making it hard to justify its higher rating. Null Composure, for example, comes to mind as a great alternative.
But for those who want to collect them all, Repulsor Brace with Withering Gaze can be an interesting combo shot, mainly against tanky enemies like champions and mini-bosses. Withering Gaze can weaken a target after targeting for a while, and then Repulsor Brace grants Void Overshield once the weakened target is defeated. There are some other options here as well, like Under Pressure and Chain Reaction, but for Void fans, Repulsor Brace remains the best option.
3 VS Pyroelectric propellant
Arc Auto Rifle that comes with a nice new Arc advantage
- God Roll: Strategist and sharp feedback
Auto Rifles are still good in the meta, but they're not all created equal, and it's hard to beat something as incredible as Rufus' Nightmare Root Fury raid, even if the two weapons aren't competing for the same weapon slot. VS Pyroelectric Propellant might be worth getting because of the interesting Arc: Jolting Feedback perk. This perk gives players access to Strike when using this weapon even outside of the Arc subclass.

Destiny 2: How to Defeat the Corrupted Puppeteer in Vesper's Host Dungeon
Lord Vespera's final encounter in Destiny 2 pits players against the Corrupted Puppeteer and his irradiated clones. Here's how to beat them.
The only other viable bonus really can be Strategist, at least for PVE. The total set of perks for this auto rifle isn't fantastic, but at the same time it also makes it easy to see which two perks are likely to work best for each PVE player. Attrition Orbs can be a very niche option in some cases. At the moment, Strategist wins in the bonus column along with Jolting Feedback.
2 VS Velocity Baton
Aerial Denial Void Grenade Launcher
- God Roll: Demolitionist & Bait & Switch
Here's an interesting newcomer to the grenade launcher pool: the Void air-denial grenade launcher. Similar to last episode's aerial rejection Stasis launcher, this one also comes with a signature area-of-effect archetype that closely resembles Witherhoard — without the sacrifice of an Exotic slot.

Destiny 2: All Revenant Weapons Ranked
The Destiny 2 Revenant episode comes with a brand new weapon available from the new Onslaught activity. That's what to grind.
Not only that, but the second perk column has a decoy and switch, making it an absolutely fantastic option for a rotation of damaging weapons this season. Remember, grenade launchers can now weaken enemies thanks to the Concussive Reloader artifact perk. For a quick reload, Demolitionist seems like the easier option here, as all the other advantages in the first column look paltry in comparison. Players should definitely consider trying to get this one into their arsenal, as it can beat the main competition, Spire of the Watcher's Wilderflight.
1 VS Chill Inhibitor
Stasis heavy grenade launcher
- God Roll: Envious Arsenal & Bait and Switch/Surrounded
Finally, a dungeon weapon worth its salt. VS Chill Inhibitor shows promise, but whether it can surpass Bitter/Sweet as a new, strong heavy grenade launcher remains to be seen. As far as perks go, there's a lot to love here, with Cascade Point and Envious Arsenal in the same column. In this case, Envious Arsenal is a must-choice.
There are two good options in the second column, but one of them is very situational. Bait and switch is a safe option for damage rotation, providing a 30% damage increase when players deal damage with all weapons in a short amount of time. However, Surrounded technically provides a larger 35% damage boost. The catch is that players need to have at least three enemies in close proximity, which won't happen for all boss encounters in the game.
