The Veilguard reveals the captured companions

Dragon Age has always been known for its companions, but sometimes these characters don't make it past the concept stage or off the floor. for example Dragon Age: Origins would have made Giovano a permanent companion before it was cut, and Fiona was considered a possible companion Dragon Age: Inquisition. These changes are very common in companion games and game development in general, with Dragon Age: The Veilguard being in a similar situation.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard – All Romance Options

While saving the world in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, players will have plenty of romantic options.

The art book features concepts from Lace Harding, whose return appears to have been decided early in development, and remains fairly similar at its core. However, it turns out that at one point Taash was a rogue in “dragonskin” armor and Lucanis was supposed to be an agent of Tevinter. Dreamer companion Antivan Crow has been cut short, with Lucanis seemingly taking her place. Perhaps Neve was born from this, as it makes more sense to have a Mage representing Tevinter, but of course there's no telling. The art book also points to one or two possible Qunari companions, including Saarebas and/or Saarebas turned “spy-spy”. And it seems from where the two characters could return Inquisitionthis time as companions: Imshael and Calpernia.
