Recently, one creative fan found a new way to show their love for Sony's legendary home gaming console, and their design may eventually find its way into homes around the world.

Nintendo reveals release date for new LEGO set
The two franchises of Nintendo and LEGO are collaborating once again for several new themed sets that will be released later in January 2025.
A post by user RippleDrive on the LEGO Ideas website details plans for a LEGO PS2 set that has received enough support for the Danish company to officially consider it for mass production. If released, the set will allow PlayStation fans to not only build a PS2 console out of LEGO bricks, but also create its controllers, memory cards and internal components. In its current state, the set contains over 2,000 parts and is close to a 1:1 scale of the original slim PlayStation 2. While it's unclear if it will get Sony's approval, fans are crossing their fingers that the design will hit shelves sometime in the future shops According to RippleDrive, they decided to build the PS2 because it is their “favorite video game console of all time” and “video game-related LEGO sets have been successful.”
A user-submitted LEGO PS2 set may be officially released
Throughout 2024, many video game-inspired LEGO sets have enjoyed success with builders around the world, from those inspired Animal Crossing: New Horizons to Sonic the hedgehog and Super mario 64. Liberation LEGO Horizon Adventures for PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch in November also inspired a unique set featuring protagonist Aloy, her ally Varl, and fully articulated Sawtooth and Shell-Walker vehicles.
In recent years, the LEGO video game series created by Traveller's Tales has gained new popularity with titles such as the iconic LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been a huge success since its initial release in 2022. Despite the fact that by 2025 no new LEGO titles have been announced, fans are hoping to see some new crossovers, and many are predicting that a new LEGO Marvel title could be on the horizon.
