Dynasty Warriors: Origins producer and Omega Force president Tomohiko Sho says that if he is able to work on an Origins sequel, he will most likely have a brand new original hero.
It's been a surprisingly long time since we've gotten a non-featured Dynasty Warriors, but that's about to change with the launch of Dynasty Warriors: Origins. As the lack of a “10” at the end of the title suggests, Origins operates much differently than previous games in the series, and aims to redo things to appeal to new audiences while also bringing back what veteran fans loved.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Preview – Becoming a Musou-Have for beginners
As someone who always wanted to get into Dynasty Warriors, Origins makes the perfect jumping off point.
While I had nothing but positive things to say after previewing the game recently, only time will tell if fans will like Dynasty Warriors: Origins. Since Origins is doing things differently to not be seen as a main numbered title, I asked producer Tomohiko Sho what he thought about continuing Origins as a standalone series with a possible sequel.
If Dynasty Warriors: Origins gets a sequel, it will probably have a new hero
In response, Shaw told me that he would love to make a sequel to Dynasty Warriors: Origins in the future if it “sells well” and Koei Tecmo allows it to continue the story. Shaw specifically noted that the campaign mode only covered half of the Three Kingdoms novel (albeit in more detail than before) and that he would like to tell the rest of the story after that.
Additionally, Shaw already has an idea for a potential Dynasty Warriors: Origins sequel, and one that he hasn't shared until now. Speaking about the original protagonist of Origins, Shaw notes that if he were to make another entry in the series, he'd probably want to do it with an entirely new hero.
It's something that I've personally only thought about and haven't really told anyone about, but deep down I think that if we do a sequel, I think that even if that main character comes in, I'd like to do it with a new the main character. – Tomohiko Sho
To anyone who took this as a bad sign for Origins' amnesiac protagonist, Shaw did explain that he will still appear in the game, but he would like someone else to be the main character. As for who that might be, we have to hope that Origins does well enough that we'll eventually see an expansion.
