Who was Martin Septim to the Crisis of oblivion?
Martin was born as an illegitimate son of Emperor Uriel Septim VII, but instead of naturalizing him to the family, he was sent without knowing his true heritage. He believed that his parents were simple farmers and that his life would go the way. When he grew up, Uriel asked Juff from time to time to check Martin, watching the distant look on his remote son without revealing the emperor's interest.
Looking for something less down -to -earth, Martin went to Guild Magov, but soon tired of the rules and protocols located on the students. Martin and some other students started looking for more exciting ways to study magic, looking into darker, prohibited knowledge that led them to worship. Martin was particularly involved in the prince of Dedryrik Sanguin, a popular choice among young believers Dadri, because he could fulfill his boldest desires. At one point, Prince Revelri even gave Martin with his artifact, a rose of a sanguine, a reward for how deep he was with the prince.
But Sanguin is darker than he seems, and not just allows his followers to live in his spare time. The prince requires that every new study of the desire is deeper and darker than the latter. What has started as a fun time can quickly be remaked, and Martin found out a difficult path. When he sank to Sanguin's grip, his friends started dying around him, and it happened, and Martin realized that he needed to go out.
Martin escaped from his old life, joining the Akatosh chapel in a hut, where he became a priest, seeking the locals and reflect on the mistakes of his past. When the Daedric portal opened in the city, Martin organized the defense of the chapel, barricading himself and many locals inside, safety from the dera, until the hero of the kwatcha could save them all.

Why be a septim so important for Martin and the fate of Tamryel?
The mythical dawn managed to open the portals to oblivion, because the ancient contract between the deadly and the acatosh, the Dragon of the Time, was defeated. While the Dragon's emperor sits on the throne and Dragon Fires is illuminated, Tamryel cannot freely resort to the Dedry. As a symbol of this arrangement, the emperors were given amulet kings that they can only wear. With Uriel Septa Dead and not the emperor to take his place, Dragon Fires came out, and the barrier between Mundus and oblivion was torn.
Martin comes from the long line of emperors septim, who went from Tiber Septim, the founder of the third empire, and he is the last hope to have on the throne of the leader Dragonborn. Martin's last victim at the end of the main quest was that he was forced in extreme circumstances of Mehrunes Dagon, which was part of Tamryel, as usual, the coverage of Dragonfires would be enough. With his transformation into Akatosh's avatar, the barrier was sealed forever, but the empire will never be the same again.
