5 Ada uses Leon as a pawn (Resident Evil 2)

Leon realizes that Ada is not the real FBI

Powerful

Technically, Ada is making amends for cheating on Leon Resident Evil 2 throwing a rocket launcher at him to help him finish off Supertyrant, but that doesn't mean the betrayal didn't sting. Anyone who knows Ada Wong already suspects that she has ulterior motives at all times and will not hesitate to switch her employer on a dime. Ada originally worked as a freelancer hired by “The Organization” (Umbrella's competitors) to steal a sample of the G-Virus from the NEST lab. She runs into Leon, who is also trying to retrieve a sample of the G-Virus, but for completely different reasons. When they finally meet again, G-Virus in hand, Leon learns from Annette Birkin that Ada is not actually an FBI agent as she claimed, but is instead working as a mercenary.

After Leon finds out, he withholds the G-Virus sample and confronts Ada about using it as a pawn in the big game. Annette shoots Ada in the shoulder, whereupon the NEST lab begins to collapse, leaving Ada dangling as Leon tries to pull her to safety. It's a heartwarming moment made all the more poignant by Nick Apostolides' portrayal of Leon and the nuances of his facial expressions, as well as slow-motion music to emphasize the blossoming romance between the pair. And this is a betrayal that will stay with Leon for many years, although Ada disappoints him several times.

True, Jessica Sherawat and Raymond Wester did not win any popularity contests for Resident Evil: Revelationsbut they are possibly some of the most underrated characters in the entire series. Although she is in love with Chris Redfield, Jessica appears to be developing a relationship with Parker, who is encouraged by her flirtatious nature. As for Raymond, he's the stereotypical tall, dark, brooding loner from the supporting cast whose motivations are always one giant mystery. As BSAA Agents Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine uncover a wealth of evidence incriminating the FBC for some dodgy dealings and shady activities, Morgan Lansdale unleashes a BOW to attack Chris and Jill, but when all else fails, he sends his mole – Jessica – to initiate the self-destruct sequence of Queen Zenobia and destroy all evidence of her.

8 Resident Evil games with the weirdest stories

Resident Evil is no stranger to weird and wacky stories, but these games take that signature weirdness to a whole new level.

Although Raymond ultimately saves Parker's life, the credits scene shows him delivering a sample of the t-Abyss virus to Jessica, thus confirming their partnership. Both Jessica and Raymond have been volatile personalities from the moment they appeared on screen, so while the betrayal wasn't exactly surprising, it had a disastrous effect on the future, even if Chris, Jill, and Parker survived the wreck. The t-Abyss virus is believed to have been hybridized with other strains of mutagenic viruses to affect future yet-to-be-revealed storylines after Resident Evil: Revelations.

When Jill Valentine meets Michael Victor Resident Evil 3he's not the most approachable or condescending character, especially after his platoon is tragically wiped out, leaving just him, Carlos, and Tyrell. As for Nikolai Zinoviev, he earned himself the codename “Silver Wolf” for always acting selfishly, and his behavior in the case of Mikhail is no exception. The UBCS were deployed to Raccoon City to rescue civilians, but an outside organization made contact with Nikolai to deliberately sabotage and undermine the UBCS. Once Jill Valentine proved to be a thorn in this outside employer's side, he was sent an additional contract to kill her, a privilege he often granted to the Nemesis. It was in Jill's nature to survive, which she did, and this infuriated Nicholas to no end.

After Jill restores power to the last train out of town, she prepares to leave with Michael, Nicholas, and the evacuees. When Nemesis attacks in pursuit of Jill, Nikolai escapes to the next car and locks Jill and Michael in, saying that Nemesis is “not after” him. This outright betrayal not only puts Jill in grave danger, but also results in Michael's death as he sets off an explosion to destroy Nemesis, who destroys himself in the process. Nikolai will reveal his true intentions to Jill later when he admits that he accepted a large payday in exchange for foiling UBCS's plans and encouraging Nemesis to kill Jill. However, he is eventually rewarded when Jill and Carlos leave him for dead when a missile launches a nuke at Raccoon City.

There are a seemingly endless number of ways to die in the Resident Evil franchise, but some of the death animations are truly memorable.

Simmons ended up hiring Sherry because of her trusting attitude after years in state prison, and her regenerative powers also proved useful to him. When Simmons learns that Jake Mueller may pose a threat to his entire C virus operation that he has become so dependent on, he sends the BOWs to hunt Sherry and Jake down, regardless of Sherry's loyalty to him up to that point. Simmons also realized what was coming after Leon fired a rocket launcher at his mutated form and knocked him off the roof, landing him against the obelisk in the courtyard.

The STARS Alpha team is led to a Midwestern town near Raccoon City where reports of mysterious murders have drawn the attention of the RPD. Alpha Command operated under the command of Captain Albert Wesker, who Resident Evil fans will learn that he is the franchise's deadliest bioterrorist and the creator of the Ourobaros virus, which has given Wesker superhuman strength and endurance. When Jill, Barry, Chris, and Wesker head to an abandoned mansion to investigate a series of murders, Wesker almost immediately goes missing along with a player-unselected protagonist. It's the leader of Bravo Team, Enrico Marini, who informs Jill or Chris about the imposter in Alpha Team before being finished off by an unseen gunman. Chris or Jill slowly uncover the details of the illegal experiments being conducted by Umbrella, then learn that Wesker is working as a double agent, hoping to program one of the Tyrants to destroy STARS members and tie up any loose ends.

Wesker appears to have been killed by the Tyrant, but as revealed in later installments, he survived to become one of Umbrella's most feared enforcers. He was behind the bioterrorist attacks that took place in Resident Evil 5 and continued to develop an intense rivalry with Chris Redfield for always foiling his plans. The gag works there Resident Evil Fandom that Wesker also hates Chris because he laughed at his Tyrant in the original Resident Evilwhich can also be. Wesker's betrayal was a pivotal moment that set off a chain reaction for future games, so it still ranks as the biggest betrayal in the decades-long franchise.
