Helix Fossil – Trainer

Found in: Genetic Apex – Pikachu

Pokemon TCG Helix Fossil Pocket Card by Toyset Beach.

One of the most interesting cards in the Pokemon TCG Pocket is the Helix Fossil. This trainer card acts as a base Pokemon with 40 HP, but has no attacks or abilities. If your opponent casts Fossil Spirals, they still get a point, so be careful how you use it.

The nice thing about Helix Fossil is that you can bench it at any time and your opponent doesn't get a point and it doesn't count as a base Pokemon when you start opening your hand in the game or when you play Poke Ball.

Primeape – 1 stage

Found in: Genetic Apex – Charizard

Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Primeape by Kagemaru Himeno.

This card catapulted in strength with the release of Promo A 17 Mankey. For two Fighting Energy, Primape does 40 damage to your opponent's active Pokemon with a Fight Back attack, but if it has any damage counters on it, Fight Back does a whopping 100 damage.

Mankey will deal 10 damage to itself, setting you up to use an unleashed Primape attack to tank most normal Pokemon and some Stage 1 Pokemon. Even if you can't damage the Primeape a bit, it has 90 HP which helps them survive most attacks.

Gardevoir – 2 stage

Found in: Genetic Apex – Mewtwo

Yuu Nishida's Pokemon TCG Gardevoir Pocket Card.

A staple card in almost every Psychic-based deck, Gardevoir is a rare card that can only be found in Genetic Apex's Mewtwo decks. What makes them important is the Psy Shadow ability, which allows you to take psychic energy and attach it to a psychic Pokemon in the Active Location.

While you'll most likely be running Mewtwo EX to activate Psydrive in just two turns, you can also use it to get your Gengar EX online or Alakazam for some serious damage.

Erica is a coach

Found in: Genetic Apex – Charizard

If you're building a grass deck, you absolutely need to play Erika Trainer. This Supporter heals 50 damage from 1 of your Grass-type Pokemon, which is a significant amount of HP, 30 more than a normal potion.

Erika is only an uncommon card, so it only takes 70 pack points to craft Erika, which requires 14 packs to open, which isn't too bad. Combine this card with other Grass Pokemon that have healing abilities like Butterfree and Venusaur EX and you have a solid deck that will be hard to break.

6

Exeggutor – 1 stage

Found in: Genetic Apex – Charizard

Pokemon TCG Pocket Card Exeggutor by Yukiko Baba.

Speaking of grass Pokemon, Exeggutor is a great rare card that can take a ton of damage and potentially deal a ton of damage. Exeggutor is a Stage 1 Pokemon with a hefty 130 HP that allows you to land a one-two punch before being destroyed.

Exeggutor only has one attack, Stomp, which deals 30 damage normally or 60 damage if you win the coin flip. All this too for one Grass Energy. This means that it takes up very little deck space to play, and it only takes one turn to go online.

5

Moltres EX – Basic

Found in: Genetic Apex – Charizard

Moltres EX, one of the most important cards in any fire-based deck, is an extremely powerful engine to boost your Pokemon. For one fire energy, you can use Hell's Dance. In this attack, you flip three coins and put one fire energy for each head you get on any of your fire pokemon.

This means you can't cast Moltres EX directly to achieve that three Energy Heat Blast attack, but you can get Benched Charizard or Arcanine EX online much faster than before. Of course, relying on the randomness of coin flips isn't always the best, but even if you get one extra energy, it's worth it.

4

Pikachu EX – Basic

Found in: Genetic Apex – Pikachu

Arguably one of the best Pokemon EX cards in the game right now, Pikachu EX is a beast that deals damage in the very early stages of the game. For two Lightning Energy, you can use Pikachu's EX Circle Circuit attack. This deals 30 damage for each Lightning Pokemon in your bench, dealing over 90 damage on your second turn.

Pikachu EX doesn't have a lot of HP, only 120, but with a retreat cost of just one colorless energy, you can ditch them if it gets too risky.

3

Giovanni is the coach

Found in: Genetic Apex – Mewtwo

An incredibly versatile Supporter that should be run in almost every deck, Giovanni, the eighth gym leader from the Kanto region, allows you to deal extra damage during the game. During your turn, your active Pokemon deals an additional 10 damage to your opponent's active Pokemon.

While 10 damage may not seem like much, it can often give you enough to put your opponents at a disadvantage. Keep in mind that this only increases the damage done to the active Pokemon, so if you have an attack that deals damage to the Catcher Pokemon, it won't deal extra damage.

2

Misty is a trainer

Found in: Genetic Apex – Pikachu

If you're building a Water-type deck, Misty is the most important card in the deck, aside from the Pokemon themselves, of course. Misty is a support that allows you to pick a water pokemon and then start flipping coins until you hit tails.

For each head you flip, you add water energy to that Pokemon. If you're lucky, you can add enough water energy to use that Pokemon's attack that turn. This card is important in Articuno EX decks where you can potentially destroy your opponent on your first turn.

1

Sabrina is a coach

Found in: Genetic Apex – Charizard

A card that every player should create if they haven't discovered it naturally is Sabrina's trainer card from the Charizard sets in Genetic Apex. This Supporter forcibly shuts down your opponent's active Pokemon, forcing them to place another Pokemon there.

You can use this card both defensively and offensively, getting rid of a potential threat by banishing it from an active point, or forcing your opponent to substitute a potentially weaker or more vulnerable Pokemon so you can get a KO.
