Key conclusions
- Stick to the basic armor set in 7DTD due to resource limitations.
- Some sets specialize in efficient resource gathering.
- Each armor set offers unique bonuses and equipment upgrades.
7 Days To Die has a variety of armor sets that give you many options for how you want to deal with the zombie apocalypse. In addition to belonging to one of the three main weight categories, which give different armor ratings, each piece of armor also gives a special bonus ability. Each armor set also has a unique bonus if you only equip pieces from that set.
While they all have their optimal uses, the fact is that resources are time-consuming and sometimes difficult to obtain, so it's best to pick a basic outfit and stick with it. If you want to know which wasteland fools are the best, here are the best armor sets in 7 Days To Die.

Medium (Farmer, Garbage Man) |

Heavy (Miner) |
An important exception to the idea of ”sticking to one outfit” is outfits specifically created for resource gathering. These armor sets are fantastic for gathering their associated resources, but provide few combat bonuses.
Typically, they give a combination of stats that allow you to harvest longer, store harvesting equipment, harvest faster, give you more inventory, and increase your yield. Aside from the Scavenger set, to get the most out of this type of gear, simply keep the entire set in a drawer next to the relevant resources, change into them when it's time to harvest, then change back when you're done.
9 A killer
If you want a bit of Assassin's Creed in your survival experience, you can't do better than Assassin's clothing. This set of armor makes stealth more effective and sneak attacks more deadly. As an average armor set, this outfit has decent armor.
Coupled with the gauntlet's increased attack speed with dexterity weapons (knives, bows, and handguns), this set is also no slouch when the fight gets loud. Atypical of medium armor, this set does not create additional noise and the boots have a negative noise modifier.
8 Athletic
Rule number one: Cardio. Sometimes in a zombocalypse, it's not the strongest or the most durable that survives, but the one who can run the longest. This spirit is embodied in the Athletic pack, which grants bonuses to health and stamina, the latter of which allows you to fight (or run) longer.
The boots also give a nice bonus to sprint speed, so you'll get more mileage out of your extra stamina. The hat gives a good reduction in the cost of food, drink and medicine. The first two of which will last much longer as the full set saves food and water while regenerating health and stamina.
7 Law enforcement officer
This set gives you the look of Agent 47, although you won't be orchestrating the death of Rube Holberg's zombies, but shooting them to death with high-powered pistols. The Enforcer set has an interesting set of boosters that are generally useful, though not completely cohesive, giving you better barter, more efficient fuel usage, and faster sprinting.
Gear increases your resistance to injuries such as broken limbs, concussions, and bleeding lacerations. While it's useful in a pinch, you don't want to push it too hard since it's a light armor set. The bonus from the full set is nice, giving the high damage and reload speed of the .44 Magnum and the Desert Vulture – the latter of which is the strongest gun in the game.
6 Ranger
This outfit is the true definition of middle, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's medium armor, so it provides decent, but not fantastic, protection. Gloves increase the damage of revolvers and lever-action rifles, which are mid-level weapons, and a full set increases their reload speed. His other buffs give the outfit a jack-of-all-trades feel; increasing your health, stamina and ability to exchange.
Good but not great, this set will get you through the zombie wasteland just fine. Still, it's not the middle ground in a very important sense: it's the best fit across the board. It's a cross between Apocalypse Cowboy and Fallout 4's Minutemen, turning you into a fashionable vigilante on the frontier.
5 Biker
This armor set fulfills the hardcore biker's bar-fighting fantasy. If you're looking to engage in close-quarters combat while maintaining some degree of mobility, there's no better kit than this one.
In addition to average armor, this set increases your survivability, giving you more health and increased resistance to stun, an affliction that can be fatal if it hits you at the wrong time. The rest of the gear increases your melee combat ability, increasing your melee damage and reducing your stamina consumption when swinging your weapon.
The full kit bonus further increases your armor rating and reduces fuel consumption on minibikes and motorbikes so you can keep your pig on the road for even longer.
4 Commandos
The Commando kit gives you a good mix of survivability and offensive power, with the gloves alone worth it for their impressive buff to all ranged weapons. The rest of the set focuses on keeping you alive and moving fast enough to get away from the gobblers so you can get back to shooting.
You gain resistance to stun and faster recovery from critical injuries, as well as increased sprint speed. A full set makes item regeneration faster, allowing you to heal on the go with ease and ensuring that as long as you're not cornered (and have health items), you'll make it out alive.
3 Raider
The Raider set turns you into a slab of metal that deals lethal head injuries, clattering around in heavy armor as you swing your weapons and turn the undead into mere dead. As with other heavy armor, you get a lot of armor out of this set while dealing a lot of damage. Gloves also give you a pretty nice bonus to melee weapon damage.
The helmet is also notable in that the legendary version makes you completely immune to stun, ensuring that you can keep swinging as long as your health and stamina remain. Gear allows you to heal faster from injuries, and a full kit lowers your chances of getting them from the start.
2 Preacher
In this outfit, you'll be ready to kick ass for God's sake. This is probably the best deal in the entire game. Like Light Armor, this set gives no movement or stealth penalties, but in addition to the modest armor rating that Light Armor provides, the piece of gear reduces the percentage of damage you take from zombies.
This set also has the best gloves in the entire game, except for the gauntlets. This is probably the best piece of armor in the entire game, as a flat level 6 increases all your damage by 60 percent. This is for everything damage, not limited to a specific weapon class like in other sets. The set bonus is also very nice, especially early on, giving you resistance to injury and a reduced chance of infection, making you completely immune to legendary quality.
1 Batan
It hurts to say, but Nerd gear is the best set when it comes to character growth, and one of the best when it comes to surviving a zombie apocalypse.
The bonus XP gain from the headgear is nice, but far more impressive is the outfit that allows you to gain additional skill levels from magazines, a powerful growth ability unmatched by any other outfit in the game. His other abilities are very useful, giving you safer drops, more powerful turrets, and the whole set slows equipment degradation.
Why then should you avoid this kit? Simple, the clothes are disgusting. It's a mix of anti-apocalypse chic and 80s nerd, as ugly as it is wholesome. This is the epitome of a stunning outfit. So, if you don't mind looking like the biggest dork in the wasteland, then these duds might be worth it.
