Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X/S consoles have remained the same since their Holiday 2020 launch. New storage options and colors have been introduced, but the Xbox console lineup hasn't changed at a basic level.

Xbox has announced that it will be giving away a brand new, custom Series X console inspired by Indiana Jones and the Great Circle ahead of the game's release.

Microsoft is now adding three new consoles to the Xbox Series X/S family. They were first announced during the Xbox Games Showcase this summer and are now available for purchase. The headliner is this Galaxy Black Xbox Series Xa special edition 2TB console with a black and green color scheme and white splashes designed to mimic outer space. This is followed by a new one white all-digital 1TB Series Xand finally, a white 1TB Series S. While this might just look like a surface-level change, there's a lot more going on inside, at least for Series X consoles.

New Xbox Series X internal changes

YouTuber Austin Evans recently posted a video in which he tore apart the Galaxy Black and disc-less versions of the Series X. A closer look revealed many changes to the internals of the new Xbox Series X models, the most notable being smaller 6nm chip. The reduced SoC slightly improves power efficiency by at least 10W in standby mode and up to 16W during gaming. The motherboard has also been rebuilt and the vapor chamber cooling system has been replaced with a more conventional copper heat pipe design. Overall, these changes are more in line with the earlier hardware versions of the PS5 than the Slim models.


As is usually the case with console hardware releases, Microsoft will be able to produce updated Xbox Series X systems at a lower price. The company didn't confirm whether it was fearless when it came to making consoles, but given how poorly the Xbox Series X/S duo sold, Microsoft is probably still losing money on each unit.
