Skeleton Crew's Jodh Na Naud could be the next Darth Vader in the franchise

Summary

  • Jude Law's Jod is poised to be the big baddie in the finale of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.

  • Jodh's redemption arc may mirror that of Darth Vader, hinting at a potential change of heart.

  • Viewers are speculating that Jod might survive after Order 66, which could leave him with a moral dilemma.

The galaxy far, far away just added another big villain. After being introduced as a heroic father similar to Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars: Skeleton CrewJod Na Nawood with Jude Law enters the final as his de facto big bad. All the best Star Wars the project needed a villain that fans would hate, and despite Jodh's Jedi potential, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford could have cast him Skeleton Crewown Darth Vader.

As a villainous space pirate, Jodh Na Naud's ultimate goal seems to be nothing more than satisfying his greed for Attin's treasures. While this means he may not have the villainous intent of ridding the galaxy of Jedi like Vader, Skeleton CrewThe penultimate episode teased Jodh's equally tragic backstory and possibly equally tragic end to Anakin Skywalker and his armored alter ego.

Skeleton Crew's Order 66 Throwback

Skeleton Crew renews Order 66

In the January 7 episode “We're Gonna Be in So Much Trouble”, the young team of heroes finally returned to their homeworld of Atin and were briefly reunited with their parents in the Imperial Mint under the planet. Their happy reunion was quickly interrupted by Jod, who had previously threatened the safety of the children's parents if they did not help him. The episode ended with Jod pulling out the blue lightsaber he had taken earlier from Tak Renado's lair on Lanup.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to spot two potential nods to the devastating 2005 Revenge of the Sithwith the last shot mirroring an earlier one in the episode. After decapitating SM-33 with his lightsaber, Jod waved it at the children and seemed to repeat the scene where a downed Anakin approached the Junglings in the Jedi Temple during Order 66. How Revenge of the Sith, Skeleton Crew the final scene of episode 7 also featured a supposed hero off-screen holding a lightsaber and seemingly about to do something terrible.

Although the audience didn't need to see Anakin directly kill the Yanlings Revenge of the Siththe fact that it is not shown is even more threatening. Care Skeleton CrewThe penultimate episode on such a cliffhanger raises similar fears that Jod might end up killing the kids (or at least their families), and while that probably won't happen, it's one hell of a way to end episode 7. Putting the pieces together, there are wild theories that Jodh himself might have survived after Order 66.

Confronted with the children aboard the Onyx Cinder, Jod snaps at Wim (Ravey Cabot-Conyers), saying:

Poor boy… What exactly are you going to do? You are all weak. Weak, quiet, spoiled children.

Reading between the lines, some think that this is Jod (or whatever his name is) reliving the horrors of Order 66, where he was too “weak” to prevent his friends from being killed at the hands of the deranged Anakin Skywalker. The terms roughly coincide: with Skeleton Crew takes place in 9 ABY, which is 28 years after Order 66. Jude Law is 52 years old in real life, so while 24 is probably a little old to be considered young, he could still be in the temple at that time. making him one of the growing number of Jedi to escape the bloodbath.

Having Jodh as another escapee from Palpatine's clutches would be retreading all too familiar ground. Ahsoka Tano survived Order 66, as did Gungi Wookiees, Respawn Entertainment's Cal Kestis Jedi games and even Obi-Wan Kenobi's Reva (Moses Ingram). How Obi-Wan Kenobi just recently Reva pulled a twist, it seems unlikely that Jod will be another survivor. Then again, when the same series featured Mapuza's hidden path with dozens of Jedi survivors, anything is possible. If Jodh's training was interrupted, it would also explain why he has the powers but doesn't want to be classified as a full Jedi.

Jodh Na Naud awaits the redemption of Darth Vader

The death of Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi.

66 theories aside, it's more likely that Jodh Na Naud is heading in the same direction as Darth Vader. As the prequels made clear, Anakin Skywalker wasn't always a terrifying villain who threatened the galaxy. A young boy from Tatooine was an aspiring Jedi who got lost and fell into the life of a villain. Jodh's abilities suggest that he may once have been a young protégé like Anakin, though it is unclear how he became the unscrupulous pirate depicted in Skeleton Crew. Just as there was some good left in Anakin at the end, Jodh may be destined for his own redemption arc in the finale.

A big turn in the late 1983s Return of the Jedi saw Darth Vader finally convinced that he was just Palpatine's puppet. When Luke Skywalker's life was threatened, Anakin's heroic nature came through. Before he became a criminal, Jod seemed to have a genuine attachment to the children, even risking his own life to save them. Although it is possible that all this was done in the hope of getting to Attin's treasure, the fact is that there was no evidence that this treasure existed. Naud repeatedly threatened the children, but so far he did not harm them.

With Nauvoo's rebel squad behind the Attin barrier and him trying to reach the group so they can loot the riches within, they may not have the same moral compass as he does. There are many parallels with Pirates of the CaribbeanJack Sparrow, who looked like he was only out for himself, had a moral core beneath the surface. Assuming there is a big fight between the pirate crew and the people of Attin, Jod may sacrifice himself to keep the children safe. Then again, he could be a real badass who wants to kill Wim, Fern, Kay B, Neil and their parents.

The Skeleton Crew children are encouraged to return The Mandalorian and Grogbut the law can become a support Star Wars? After the cancellation of Acolyte and a convex slate of Star Wars movies and TV series that are in various stages of Hell's development, Disney seems to be going all out on the Mandoverse. This period of history afterReturn of the Jedi it seems to be the highest grossing franchise right now and it's here Skeleton Crew is sitting Assuming Jodh gets redemption but doesn't die like Vader did aboard the Death Star II, there's every chance he'll come back and lead the kids on Guni-inspired adventures in the not-so-distant future Star Wars.
