Silent Hill 2 Remake: 7 characters that changed the most
Most of the characters in the remake have the same personalities, but their designs differ slightly from the original Silent Hill 2.
Some of Silent HillMore interesting side characters were killed off too soon, but even some of the leading names in the franchise were overshadowed by the likes of James Sunderland and Heather Mason, who are among the Silent Hillthe most beloved characters. Regardless of how long they've stuck around, whether they're no longer alive, or whether knowledge has simply forgotten about them altogether, these most underrated Silent Hill symbols.
7 Douglas Cartland
Compassionate doting father and all round good guy
Although Heather and Claudia remain in the spotlight Silent Hill 3there's no denying what a huge impact Douglas Cartland had on the community, even if he was little more than Heather's accessory. He has all the makings of a great character—a tragic backstory, questionable alliances, and a good nature—but he doesn't focus enough on Silent Hill 3 to make his potential manifest.
He has one of the saddest quotes in the entire game, and he obviously thinks very little of himself, especially since he blames himself for his son's death, but Douglas is a fascinating and complex man with a lot more under the surface than meets the eye. at first glance. His few scenes with Heather are some of the game's cutest, endearing bits, and he could survive a regular finale, but Douglas doesn't get enough screen time to be truly appreciated.
6 Eddie Dombrowski
A misunderstood and ridiculed man who deserved better
Silent Hill 2
- Released
- September 24, 2001
- OpenCritic rating
- Powerful
Like Angelou, Eddie's difficult upbringing leads him to Silent Hill, where he meets James Sunderland. Because of his excess weight, Eddie was subjected to ridicule all his life and considered himself a loser in the “genetic lottery”. When James meets him, Eddie is on the edge of his mind from the taunts, so he is determined to kill the next person who makes fun of him. He brandishes his gun and convinces himself – through his paranoia – that James is mocking him too. A fight ensues and James eventually kills Eddie in self-defense.

The 8 best quotes from the Silent Hill 2 remake
In the already weird, disturbing foggy town of Silent Hill, these even weirder quotes from Silent Hill 2 Remake are sure to be memorable.
Eddie is underrated for the same reasons as Angela, as they are both troubled souls who drove themselves insane during their time at Silent Hill. Eddie is the living embodiment of self-loathing and he's way too hard on himself, qualities that make him very relatable and thus give him significance as another character who passed away too soon. He deserved a better end than the one destined by fate.
5 Eileen Galvin
A complete and interactive companion
- Released
- September 7, 2004
- Developer(s)
- Silent team
Silent Hill there is a lack of tormented characters, many of whom essentially act as plot performers, but in fact Eileen has many admirable qualities and a unique role in Henry's story. Unfortunately, she suffers from the same cruel AI as Sheva Resident Evil 5so that might be one of the reasons why her character is sometimes obnoxious. However, Eileen was specifically designed to interact with the environment and help James read Walt's writing, giving her a more central role than someone like Douglas.

Best intro to Silent Hill, ranked
The Silent Hill games have some of the most memorable intros, so we're going to rank them from the bottom and work our way up to the best.
It's hard not to feel sorry for Eileen, which gives her the upper hand, as she deserves to be pitied and certainly helps carry Silent Hill 4but she is overlooked in the overall scheme of things, despite the fact that her character is well-rounded and one of the great idiosyncratic characters in the entire series.
4 Claudia Wolf
An efficient and versatile criminal
It's not often that female characters in horror games get the chance to steal the show, but characters like Claudia Wolf walked so characters like Lady Dimitrescu could run. U Silent Hill 3Claudia is mostly approached first, mentioned in passing by Douglas, who was hired to bring Heather (Alesa) to her. She later takes on a more prominent role, especially during the final confrontation with Heather during the “birth” of God. Although Claudia is the main antagonist, many of Claudia's actions are sympathetic due to her complicated and painful past.
Claudia wanted the best for humanity, even if her methods can be seen as cruel and unfair, which adds layers of character to be despised. She was overshadowed by many monster enemies Silent Hilllike Pyramid Head, but Claudia's main threat in the Silent Hill 3 ties the story together and gives Heather someone to fight.
3 Angela Orozco
A misunderstood and misinterpreted victim
Angela is one of the biggest parts Silent Hill 2being quite a complex and compelling character. It's no small feat for Angela to create the most heartwarming story of any in a franchise that's all about heartwarming stories.
Silent Hill full of characters who are products of their environment, like Angela, who suffered horrific emotional and sexual abuse from her father and brother. Her backstory unfortunately grounds her character in reality due to its believability, and she is the main image of sadness and depravity in the series. She can be strong and overbearing at times, but Angela is definitely one of the best roles Silent Hill 2 and her presence even reveals a lot about James, which is very telling.
2 Jasper Gein
A compelling character even in death
Like Eddie and Angela, Jasper is different Silent Hill a side character whose sad home life has led him to the titular town. Jasper has an inappropriately short walk Silent Hill 4 after meeting Henry, who offers him chocolate milk in exchange for a shovel in a surprisingly rewarding scene. The next time James encountered Jasper, he was set on fire and died from horrific burns. Jasper returns as Victim 17 to the forest world where Henry is able to meet him and fight him with the Sword of Obedience.
He was never heard from again after that, which is a shame because even characters like Eddie and Angela played bigger roles in Silent Hill 2. Most of all, Jasper is just fun to be around. He's one of those very likable characters who gets kidnapped at any moment, which is all too common in horror games. Even Jasper's death scene is understated. There is no overly dramatic music here, just the crackle of fire and his screams of pure agony. It's a shame he didn't have a bigger role, but he's still hard to forget.
1 Henry Townshend
The main character, unfairly tarnished
Although he is one of the Silent HillHenry is one of the most underrated characters along with Murphy Pendleton. If someone thinks Silent Hillthey instinctively turn to James Sunderland, who earned a reputation as something of a franchise talisman alongside Pyramid Head. However, Henry is the most relatable character and therefore can connect with the audience in a way that others cannot. He is an ordinary man who goes through hell and survives in one of the Silent Hillthe most difficult games, which is commendable in itself. It represents voyeurism in its most basic form, as it acts as an avatar for players to experience the world of Silent Hill through a clear lens, impartial to protagonists like James, Heather, and Harry, who have more unique motivations.
He stands apart from the others, being an ordinary person without much of a driving force, so he flies blindly through Silent Hill and acts like most people would. Silent Hill 4 was always underrated compared to the original trilogy, so the same can be said for Henry, which never got the love it deserved for being the title of one of the most exciting games in the series.
