Review: Debut novel of Palestinian writer explores exile, displacement through the female body

DUBAI: American singer-songwriter Katy Perry tapped an Arab designer this week while filming her house-inspired music video for her single 'Lifetimes'.

She wore Glass Dalida PVC platform mules by Romanian-Jordanian shoe designer Amina Muadi. The shoe has a clear design, the entire structure, including the heel and platform, is made of transparent material. Open-toed mules have a wide flared heel.

The music sensation paired the heels with a metallic silver mini dress called Shanghai by Ibiza-based brand Jennyinibiland. The dress has a neckline with a cutout in the front, which emphasizes the futuristic look. The fabric has a reflective, mirror coating.

She accessorized with KA YO CHIMI Silvaner Clear Sunglasses by Chimi, a Swedish brand known for its stylish and innovative eyewear. The sunglasses have a clear frame and tinted lenses.

Perry will release a music video on August 9, she wrote on Instagram, sharing photos from the set.

Over the past week, the singer has been teasing the single by posting clips on social media using the song as the soundtrack.

The song “Lifetimes” follows the release of her female single “Woman's World”, the first track from her upcoming sixth album “143”.

Although she hasn't revealed the album's full tracklist, it's due out on September 20. During Instagram and TikTok Live streams, she teased several songs and features, including “I'm His He's Mine” featuring Doechii, “Gimme Gimme” featuring 21 Savage, and “Nirvana.”

In August 2020, Perry released her latest album 'Smile', which included 'Daisies', the title track 'Smile', 'Never Really Over', 'Harleys in Hawaii' and 'Cry About It Later'.

The Muaddi label has gained a large following among the most famous celebrities, including Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber Baldwin, all of whom have been seen wearing its designs on more than one occasion.

In 2021, her impact and influence on the fashion world was further recognized when she was named to the prestigious list of “50 Most Influential Women” by Women's Wear Daily and Footwear News.
