Key conclusions
- Excella Gionne serves as a memorable placeholder for Albert Wesker in RE5's lackluster boss fights.
- The Vulcanbubbler in Revelations 2 is a nasty and annoying boss that lacks replayability.
- RE3's Nemesis final stage loses its impact in Inferno mode, lacking in memorable gameplay moments.
Over several decades and approximately 30 games, including spin-offs and remakes, Resident Evil boasts several formidable bosses. They range from incredibly easy to wildly complex, and each requires a different tactic to overcome. That's all for now Resident Evil the bosses are unique, not all of them are pleasant to defeat or even memorable in the grand scheme of the franchise.
Not everyone Resident Evil the boss can be Nemesis or Albert Wesker. Unfortunately, some are disposable or expendable micro-bosses in the build-up to someone—or something—more worthy of the ultimate showdown. Other boss fights are so tedious that players try to block them from memory altogether. More often than not, if a boss fight isn't fun, it isn't memorable. Here are the most memorable bosses in Resident Evil.

10 Carla Ramades
A ridiculous character turned into a confusing boss
In Ada Wong's company RE6she confronts her doppelgänger, Carla Radames, who was forced to transform herself into a clone of Ada at the behest of Derek S. Simmons. During the climax of Chapter 4, Ada battles Carla's mutated form inside the ship's hull, where Ada must tear apart Carla's giant face to cause a chain reaction from the nitrogen tanks behind her.
It's easy for the boss to waste ammo, especially not knowing that destroying Carla's eyes isn't the only thing Ada has to do. Otherwise, it's a boss that's over too quickly with an enemy that unfortunately isn't relevant enough to leave a lasting impression.
9 Ndesu
An angry fight with a tired mechanic
Sections 2-3 of Art RE5 see Chris and Sheva fight Ndesu, who resembles a giant ogre, using Gatling guns attached to the truck body. The goal is to deal enough damage to Ndesu that he exposes his internal plugs, which are his weak point. There are also some Majini supporting Ndesa who will shoot crossbows at Chris and Sheva.
Turret sequence in Resident Evil tend to be repetitive, but boss Ndesu is an absolute hassle. Many players would rather forget it than experience it. Ndesu is also not a very memorable creature compared to the other prominent examples of monsters in the Resident Evil.
8 G Stage 5
An optional missable boss
- Released
- January 25, 2019
Both Tyran and Gee are real heads RE2but for the most part their boss fights are exciting. However, after completing the second run RE 2 as Leon or Claire, the player unlocks the last-final boss G (Stage 4) when Birkin returns with a vengeance to latch onto the train. This also sets events in motion to witness the true ending, but only after Leon kills Birkin for good.

The 10 best death animations in Resident Evil games
There are a seemingly endless number of ways to die in the Resident Evil franchise, but some of the death animations are truly memorable.
It's a nice replayable addition, but the boss isn't as interesting as Leon's fight with the Super Tyrant or Claire's encounter with G (Stage 4) in the train elevator. Maybe if it was an integral part of the game it would be more important, but as an additional boss for beginners it doesn't have much value.
7 A bat
A blink-and-you-miss-it boss like no other
- Released
- November 12, 2002
One of RE ZeroNicknamed the “Church Bat,” the toughest bosses rely on agility to dodge follow-up attacks, and also send out a swarm of smaller bats to deal damage over time. The Bat's mobility means that shots must be aimed and fired immediately if there is any hope of landing. There are different opinions about this boss. Some find it unnecessarily difficult, while others have found ways to “smash” the boss by standing still at the spawn point and firing in rapid succession.
As the lead to Queen Leech, Bat doesn't do a good job of setting the scene. It's more of a nuisance than a good introduction to one of the game's best bosses, and it's definitely not the highlight of the game.
6 Tyrant
One of the weak bosses in the forgotten game
- Released
- February 29, 2000
While Nosferatu finds the cake the most unbearable CODE: VeronicaBosses, it cannot be denied that the infamous “Tyrant plane” is not only extremely annoying, but also causes problems that do not leave a good taste in the mouths of those who play it. By this point, most of your ammo is gone, and it's easy to forget to save your explosive bows and grenades. Fighting the Tyrant is getting annoying.
In addition to the obvious drawbacks, fighting the Tyrant doesn't have much of an impact. U CODE: VeronicaA tyrant is not the first enemy that comes to mind in connection with Nosferatu, especially since the mechanics of fighting Nosferatu are more pleasant and interesting.
5 Jack Norman
An infuriating boss
- Released
- January 26, 2012
It's true that the final boss is undeniably the best part Resident Evil: Revelationswhich is otherwise an erroneous entry in the series. It cannot be forgotten because it is bad. Quite the opposite. The fight against Jack Norman is without a doubt one of the most difficult bosses Resident Evil games. It's hard to finish, which makes it even more rewarding.

Resident Evil: 8 Times Characters Narrowly Escaped Death
Resident Evil characters are known for surviving the most unimaginable situations, but these close calls were especially poignant.
However, there is an argument to be made as to how difficult a Norman fight can be, especially as the difficulty ramps up towards the end. With this, there are no cheap tricks to cheat the system. It's definitely something players don't want to experience more than once.
4 The final stage of Nemesis
An epic moment ruined by Inferno mode
RE3The final showdown with Nemesis has some of the best graphics in the entire game, even if Jill Valentine can lift a railgun 10 times her weight is downright unbelievable. It's one of those silly moments that do Resident Evil it's fun. In Inferno mode, this boss is simply infuriating. Otherwise, the requirements to defeat the Nemesis are fairly simple, unlike some of Jill's earlier encounters with him, where she has to do tricks up her sleeve to get the upper hand.
It was stunning after how intense some of the other confrontations were — namely the rooftop flamethrower and the clock tower square. Jill delivers some great one-liners, but it's not enough to make the moment stand out.
3 Evelyn
A final boss that falls short of its predecessors
- Released
- January 24, 2017
RE7 there was a lot going for it. The Baker family was a constant looming threat, and the side-plot with Zoe was fascinating. Even the segments with Miya were highlights of the game, which became the pinnacle of modern survival horror. Almost everything was perfect, and there's nothing more devastating than seeing a AAA title brought to a rushed and poorly executed end.
RE7 had been preparing for so long for the inevitable moment when Ethan met Evelyn in her true form, only for the boss fight to fall flat. It ruined the atmosphere that otherwise had the makings of a masterpiece. Compared to Jack and Marguerite Baker, Evelyn's boss fight wasn't as good, not much else to say.
2 Axel Gionet
A boss whose relevance depends on another
Resident Evil 5
Survival Horror
Third person shooter
Action adventure
RE5The supporting cast, including Ricardo Irving, Axel Guillaume, and even Jill Valentine to some extent, all served as stand-ins for the real menace: Albert Wesker. Both Ricardo and Excella were very underused and forgettable characters, as were their bosses. Both of them were placeholders for Wesker, who didn't really enter the fray until the last few chapters.
Towers are an immediate shutdown for Irving, but Excella's fight had a lot of wasted potential. Still, compared to Wesker, she couldn't look scary or leave a mark that wouldn't soon be forgotten when Chris and Sheva burst into the aircraft hangar to confront Wesker.
1 Volcanic bubble
A nasty boss in a game full of nasty bosses
- Released
- February 24, 2015
There were a lot of nasty boss fights Revelations 2specifically the Barry vs. Alex fight. But even Alex Wesker can't be more frustrating than the Vulcan Bubbler. This enemy that Claire and Moira face launches firebombs at their target, and it's as annoying as it sounds.
It gets old fast, especially since Claire needs to focus her fire on the Volcanic Bubble while also paying attention to the other enemies that are scurrying around. It's not a fight anyone would want to repeat or get a lot of enjoyment out of. Rather, it is a stepping stone to the best parts of the story.
