Entering The Depths

The Korok Mask is found in the Depths, under the Great Hyrule Forest. On the surface, there is only one way through this area, and this holds true of the location in the Depths. Rather than being able to approach from any side, you will enter from the southeast corner.

To get here, we suggest heading through the Minshi Woods Chasm. This is directly north of the Woodland Stable, found to the northeast of Hyrule Castle. The Chasm appears to the side of the road leading to the Great Hyrule Forest; just glide down and you will be in the Depths.

Finding The Forest Coliseum

Once you make it into the Depths, your goal is to head into the Forest area, that’s a bit like an island in the Depths. From where you fell through the Chasm, head northwest.

Here, you will find the Rikonasum Lightroot near a large pillar. By Ascending through this pillar, you will be right in front of the Deku Tree in the forest. For now though, continue heading northwest.

Soon, you will reach the Ramobnukas Lightroot, but there is just a bit more to go. Once again, head northwest until a massive stone structure comes into view. This is the Forest Coliseum, where the Korok Mask waits.

Defeating The Black Hinox

Now, take your first steps into the Forest Coliseum. Inside, you will find some suspicious-looking bananas leading to the center. Unsurprisingly, this is a Yiga Clan trap. Two Yiga Clan members will appear when you grab the center banana, and unleash a Black Hinox.

The Black Hinox will then appear in the Coliseum and the door will close, preventing you from escaping. Fortunately, the Black Hinox is relatively easy to take on. With a supply of arrows, you can shoot the Hinox in the eye, causing it to stagger. When this happens, just run up and attack.

This is a Gloom Black Hinox, which means that attacks will break your hearts temporarily. If you are unsure of the fight, we suggest using Sundelions to make dishes that heal Gloom damage.

If aiming is hard, we recommend using some Keese Eyeballs attached to your arrows. These give your arrows a honing ability, making it easy to hit the Hinox directly in the eye. Additionally, any Sages that you have summoned will fight for you, which can be quite helpful. With the help of Riju, you can also electrify the battlefield and zap the Black Hinox.

Once you defeat the Black Hinox, it will drop some materials, and a wall will reveal a chest. This chest holds the item that you’ve been looking for; open it, grab the Korok Mask, and get out of there!

Using The Korok Mask

While it does look a bit silly, the Korok Mask does have some functionality. When equipped, the mask will begin to shake if you are near a Korok. The mask only has one defense, so it’s best used in safe situations when you are Korok hunting.
