Starfield: How To Get Polymer

You’ll need polymer to craft some of Starfield’s best stuff – in fact, you’ll need it to craft all sorts of stuff.

In real life, amino acids are some of the building blocks of life, essential in the formation of proteins. In Starfield, Amino Acids are one of the numerous items you can find and use. If you are focused on putting skill points into the Science skill tree, you’ll especially need to find Amino Acids. Here are several ways to get them.

How To Use Amino Acids

The research system screen in Starfield, showing Amino Acids being used to research.

Amino Acids are a component in some Pharmacology research projects. You’ll need them to complete Medical Treatment 1 and 2. This will let you craft the following health items:

  • Antibiotic Paste (treats Burns, Frostbite, and Infections)
  • Infused Bandages (treats Burns, Contusions, Frostbite, Lacerations, Puncture Wounds)
  • Analgesic Poultice (treats Burns, Contusions, Frostbite, Infections, Lacerations, and Puncture Wounds)
  • Boudicca (+30 O2 and +300 damage resistance for three minutes)

If you’re looking to add upgrades to your overall spacesuit, a useful one is the Regeneration mod. This allows you to slowly recover health outside of combat, which is great to avoid wasting healing items.

Regeneration requires Pack Mods 3 being researched, which is unlocked by having the Spacesuit Design or Special Projects skills at a certain rank, so it won’t be available right off the bat.

If you want to get into botany and building greenhouses at your outposts, you’ll want to gather some Amino Acids as well. The Industrial Greenhouse can be built after researching Horticulture 2, which is accessible after unlocking the Botany and Outpost Engineering skills.
