The larger maps and longer TTK in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 have made assault rifles the ideal weapon type for many players. Killing an enemy from dozens of meters away with a short burst of high-damage rounds is highly encouraged with the return of MW2 2009’s maps.
No weapon showcases this better than the DG-58, a three-round burst AR with some serious stopping power. So long as you land a single headshot, this weapon is capable of downing a player in a single burst, giving it one of the shortest TTK values in the game. This guide will showcase two powerful builds that can consistently one-burst targets with extreme accuracy.

Compared to most weapons, the DG-58 has the unique ability to kill someone in 100ms if you land a headshot in your three-round burst. Doing so can be tricky at long distances, so we’ll be focusing on recoil control and aiming stability with this build. We get both from the DG-56 LS18 Barrel which also buffs the gun’s effective range, making it perfect for maps like Wasteland and Derail. The Soldier Pro Padded Buttplate will then greatly buff your gun kick control. This makes your bullet groupings extremely tight with every burst. Run the SL Skeletal Vertical Stock to reduce your vertical recoil and gain some much-needed ADS speed. Finish the build by throwing on your favorite optic and suppressor.
While this build might not spec as hard into recoil as one might expect, you have virtually zero reticle sway with this build. Paired with the 0.77 recoil gun kick value, your bursts will have no bullet deviation. There is a small bit of vertical recoil between each burst, but this won’t compromise any one-burst kills until 50+ meters. And at those distances, you’ll experience damage falloff regardless. The suppressor allows you to stay off the radar as well, making this the perfect gun for stealth builds.

Stealth builds are incredibly strong in MW3 thanks to the return of Dead Silence as a perk. We’ll be using a stealth loadout to make the DG-28 a perfect primary weapon for every situation. We use the Engineer Vest to give ourselves an extra gear slot and twice as many Tactical uses. Ghost is ideal for staying off enemy radar by strafing or running, something you’ll be doing quite frequently. Covert Sneakers will muffle your footstep audio to help with repositioning. Since this gun’s reload speed is quite slow, we highly recommend using Mag Holster as your second gear perk. You’ll also want Marksman Gloves to mitigate incoming flinch.
Nearly every build can benefit from Stims for rapid healing after a gunfight. And in the event that an enemy pushes your position, you’ll want to use the Renetti with either a fastdraw grip or the carbine conversion. This weapon melts targets at close range and is easy to use. For your Field Upgrade, use whatever suits the game type best.

Thanks to the DG-58’s minimal recoil, you can easily buff the gun’s tactical stance accuracy to make it an excellent mid-range AR. Most hipfire accuracy attachments buff tac stance in MW3, so we’ll be going all-in on hipfire attachments. The Stovl DR Laser Box, Cronen Grooveshot Grip, and Extended TP-9 Buttstock all increase your tac stance and hipfire accuracy values quite significantly. Use the Q22 Tactical Grip to gain even more tac stance accuracy and some sprint to fire speed, and you have an excellent mid-range AR in your hands. You also have a spare attachment slot to attach a suppressor.
You’ll want to exclusively use tac stance with this build. The good news is that your accuracy is through the roof, with your tactical stance reaching a maximum spread of 0.9 degrees, which is fairly close to how accurate ADS fire is. This means you can easily burst targets down from roughly 30 meters without experiencing any noticeable bloom. And since tac stance doesn’t force you to fully aim, you benefit from high strafe speed, a lower ADS speed, and a clear sight of the enemy while firing. Your sprint to fire time is only 153ms, so feel free to play aggressively.

We’ll be recommending the same stealth loadout as our accuracy build with one notable difference: swap the Marksman Gloves for Assault Gloves. The Assault Gloves will allow you to jumpshot with no accuracy or ADS penalties, making the DG-58 an excellent weapon for aggressive play. Covert Sneakers and Ghost will let you reposition without drawing any attention, and Mag Holster helps alleviate the weapon’s fairly long reload time. Bring a good close-range secondary weapon, and you should be ready for most gunfights.
