Lords of the Fallen follows the soulslike’s formula, which means there are areas interconnected to each other, and more of these are locked behind closed doors. While some doors may lead you to hidden treasures, most of these are progression blockers, and obtaining keys is the only way to access these doors.
Royal key is one of the important items you need to collect to proceed further into Bramis Castle and reach the end-game boss. Reaching this key item requires strategy, killing some powerful enemies, and operating a lever. That is why knowing how to get the Royal Key will benefit you.
How To Get The Royal Key
The Royal Key is one of the late-game items in the game and is acquired after reaching the far end of Bramis Castle. In order to get it, you need to start exploring areas after the Bloody Pilgrim vestige. Near this checkpoint, you will find a large metal gate that will be closed, stopping you from getting easy access to the location.
Take a left, and you will find yourself into a couple of enemies behind the lava and steam. There are a couple of items here, so make sure you collect those before moving further. After that, start ascending the stairs, and you will find yourself being targeted by a marksman enemy. Run past this enemy and enter the room to your left.
At this location, you can plant a Vestige Seed, but we recommend you skip it for now unless you unlock the ladder that leads the shortcut further into this area.
Assuming the ladder is not pushed down for you when you first come here, you would want to jump ahead and take the stairs leading to an entrance blocked by fragile wooden blocks. Roll into it and do a couple more dodge-rolls to avoid Ruiner enemy’s attack there.
At the center of this location is a series of spiraling stairs that go up. You can explore this area for some items, but the Royal Key will not be found there as you are required to pull a level to shuffle these spiral stairs‘ positioning. This level is actually found at the opposite location from the entrance you came and the Ruiner enemy that attacked you.
Take a left here and keep running straight. Another Ruiner enemy will be seen patrolling this region that you can either run past or kill first and then proceed ahead. After that, take a right at the end of this hallway, and you will find a mage enemy with red crystals surrounding this small area.
Kill the mage enemy here, and it will destroy all of the red crystals in this area, revealing the lever you need to interact with.
You could be ambushed here by a Ruiner enemy encountered in the hallway. The best strategy, before fighting the mage, would be to kill all enemies and then face off against the mage, as she is quite a difficult foe herself.
The next step is to pull the level and go to the opposite location from here. The spiral staircase that you must have seen before has rotated now, giving you access to another side of Bramis Castle. Climb these stairs and take the first exit on the left.
Go through this door, and you will come across Proselytes enemy type standing at the right entrance.
An amazing armor set can be collected behind this enemy so make sure you get the armor set and then go to the left from the entrance you came.
The next section will contain a couple of Trapper enemies and Rhogar hounds, and killing them will make the key acquisition easy. The Royal Key can be found on a short shelf at the far end of the bridge connecting both ends of Bramis Castle.
