The Best Team Setup For Topaz In Honkai: Star Rail

Highlights

  • Topaz has the unique ability to increase the follow-up damage of other characters, making her strong in endgame content like Swarm Disaster or Simulated Universe.
  • Himeko can be a viable combination with Topaz due to her follow-up attack dealing extra damage to enemies with the Proof of Debt effect.
  • Topaz and Blade work well together as Blade’s follow-up attack is already a high-damage ability, and Topaz can further buff it.

Once you get a new character in Honkai: Star Rail and give them the best possible Relics and Light Cones, the next step is to find up to three characters who synergize well with them in battle. This can be a difficult task for most characters, but it’s quite a different situation for Topaz & Numby.

This duo belongs to the path of The Hunt with Fire as their combat type, and they rely on follow-up attacks as their main source of damage. However, the unique part about Topaz’s kit is her ability to increase the follow-up damage coming from other characters.

8 Fire Trailblazer

  • Path –
    Preservation

  • Combat Type –
    Fire

Fire has been one of the not-so-popular combat types ever since Honkai: Star Rail’s release due to the lack of good characters, but Fire Trailblazer has still been one of the top picks for endgame content like Swarm Disaster, Simulated Universe, or the Memory of Chaos because of their Preservation abilities.

Whenever Fire Trailblazer uses her Basic Attack, Skill, or Ultimate, she produces a small shield for the entire party. She can also force the enemies to attack her with her Skill, which is great for Topaz especially if you’re using the River Flows in Spring Light Cone on her.

7 Himeko

  • Path –
    Erudition

  • Combat Type –
    Fire

Talking about the Fire combat type not having good characters, Himeko is probably the biggest part of it since she doesn’t deal nearly enough damage for a five-star. Whenever an enemy’s weakness is broken, Himeko gains one stack and launches a follow-up attack upon reaching three stacks.

This follow-up attack deals damage to all the enemies on the field, but it deals extra damage to the enemy with the Proof of Debt effect from Topaz. Given that both Topaz and Himeko are Fire characters, this can actually be a viable combination in the endgame content.

6 Asta

  • Path –
    Harmony

  • Combat Type –
    Fire

Asta has been one of the most underrated Harmony units in Honkai: Star Rail even though she provides one of the most important stats in the game with her Ultimate. She can increase the SPD of all her allies by over 50 whenever this Ultimate is triggered, which is big in the late game since enemies are super speedy.

However, the main reason for her synergy with Topaz is the ATK increase and the Planetary Rendezvous Light Cone. On Superimposition Five, Asta can increase Topaz’s DMG by 24 percent as long as you have them together on the battlefield.

5 Jing Yuan

  • Path –
    Erudition

  • Combat Type –
    Lightning

The General of the Xianzhou Luofu, Jing Yuan was one of the most anticipated characters in the game and he also got a cool trailer during his first featured banner. However, the character went down in ranking as newer DPS characters got released since his follow-up attacks weren’t the best out there.

Thankfully, Topaz changed this significantly by giving him a massive DMG boost on the Lightning Lord. You just have to try your best to keep the Proof Of Debt on the enemy that takes the most damage from the Lightning Lord.

4 Clara

  • Path –
    Destruction

  • Combat Type –
    Physical

Another character having the follow-up attacks as the main source of their damage, Clara can be acquired at any point through the Standard or the Limited banner. She’s already a great character since her follow-up triggers whenever she (or her allies during the Ultimate) get attacked by an enemy.

With characters like Lynx or March 7th, you can increase her chances of getting attacked as well. And now, you can put Topaz alongside her and increase the damage of her follow-up attacks for one enemy.

3 Silver Wolf

  • Path –
    Nihility

  • Combat Type –
    Quantum

If you go through Topaz’s traces once, you’ll find a Bonus Ability called Financial Turmoil that increases her damage against opponents weak to the Fire combat type. However, you might not find enemies weak to Fire everywhere, which is where Silver Wolf and her ability to implant a weakness comes in.

This works even better if you’re planning to use the Quantum Relic set on Topaz since it can allow her to ignore up to 20 percent of the enemy’s DEF if they have Quantum weakness.

2 Pela

  • Path –
    Nihility

  • Combat Type –
    Ice

Ideally, you’d want to use another follow-up-based character alongside Topaz since she gives a boost to follow-up damage and also advances Numby’s turn when the enemy affected with Proof of Debt takes follow-up DMG. This makes most Harmony characters bad with her since they can only buff one character.

However, Nihility characters like Pela can apply the DEF shred directly on the enemies, and all your party members can enjoy the increase in damage at the same time. You can also have quite a decent uptime on Pela’s Ultimate if you have ERR rope on her.

1 Blade

  • Path –
    Destruction

  • Combat Type –
    Wind

Blade is arguably one of the best DPS characters in the game since he can deal massive damage from his Ultimate, Basic Attack, and follow-up attack. His follow-up attack triggers whenever he loses HP by any means five times, which is quite easy since his HP gets drained with all his abilities.

This follow-up attack deals damage to all the enemies on the field, and it’s also the highest damage ability in his kit. What can be better than buffing an ability that already deals a lot of damage? Topaz and Blade function quite well together, especially because of his path having a higher chance of getting attacked by enemies.
