Bandai Namco has shared an extended look at adult Naruto and Sasuke’s long-awaited rematch in an overview trailer for Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections.
Although Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections might have had a bit of a rough start when it was first announced and seemed like a retelling of the series so far instead of a brand-new game, it’s slowly turned things around with the reveal of new characters and a brand-new story mode featuring Boruto.
As great as it is to have more time focused on Boruto, one of the things that fans have been most excited about in his story mode actually has nothing to do with him. The last trailer we got for the game revealed that Naruto and Sasuke will finally have a rematch in the new campaign, with Naurto seemingly being taken over by an evil force.
The last trailer for the game only gave us a little glimpse at this battle, but Bandai Namco has finally shown us more thanks to a new overview trailer that was released yesterday. The overview trailer detailed how Connections is going to handle its various game modes and how it’ll feature all of the fights from the last few games (seemingly by removing the adventure element and just including the actual battles), before showcasing more of Naruto and Sasuke fighting.
After the overview footage was shared, Bandai Namco also released a separate trailer that shows even more of Naruto and Sasuke fighting. From what we can see, it seems as if the rematch is actually the beginning of the new story mode, as name tags pop up explaining who Naruto and Sasuke are, implying that they haven’t been introduced yet.
It also looks like we’re going to be playing as Sasuke in the fight as, not only does it make sense if Naruto has been taken over and briefly turned evil, but screenshots released alongside the trailer show the battle from Sasuke’s perspective. That being said, it seems as if the battle is going to be revisited at several points in the story mode, as the first showcase of their rematch featured footage that doesn’t appear in this trailer and seems to take place further into the fight, as the two are a bit more bruised up.
For those hoping to finally get a conclusive answer on who would win out of Naruto and Sasuke, I wouldn’t get your hopes up too much as it’s likely that Boruto is going to storm in and stop it before it reaches its conclusion. Even if that ends up being the case, however, it’s going to be interesting seeing who has the upper hand.
