Pokemon X and Y leaks explained

PokemonThe recent massive leak continues to be the source of an endless amount of information about the franchise. Almost every generation of games in Pokemon series has been turned upside down and there is a goldmine of revelations about X and I names.

The main aggregator for the major Pokemon the leaks posted are still Centro Leaks on X (formerly Twitter), the account at the center of this Teraleak. However, much of the preservation of these leaks has been done by the Cutting Room Floor wiki. This is a wiki dedicated to cataloging curated game content, and has been incredibly diligent in organizing this information.

What October's Teraleak revealed about Pokemon X and Y

January 2013 City Map 2012 South Colossus

Version Pokemon X and IA map of the city from January 2013, nine months before the games release, emerged as a result of these leaks. The map showing the northern half of the Kalos region is almost identical to the version in the final game. Perhaps most notable is how the latest Lumiose City Poke Ball design is presented in compressed crude form. Upon further inspection, the previous map also lacks the Sea Spirit's Lair, the Kalos Power Station, the Lost Hotel, Terminus Cave, the Void Chamber, Killude City, the Cave of Communications, and the Cave of Reflection.

However, this is hardly the wildest thing about the Kalos region. Leaks have revealed that another lost map created in 2012 confirms the existence of the southern half of Kalos in X and I. In the image of the southern region, the mouse points to a place called simply “town” in Japanese, with text that roughly translates to a description of a cold, comfortable rural town. This is accompanied by a placeholder image of Kaiserberg-Vignoble, a historic French town that matches the French-inspired Colossus region. Many speculated that this southern region would be post-game content, given some fan concerns about X and Iafter the game, but that's just speculation.

Early Pokemon builds and the canceled Mega Jynx

It has a huge amount of details Pokemon leaks about early forms of art X and I Pokemon. Many of these creatures once had different types (e.g. Delfax originally had no Psychic type), different abilities (e.g. Honege and Doubleblade once had “Change Stance” abilities), and/or other names (e.g. Spritzy's original Japanese name was ' Toware , which roughly translates to “toilet”).

One of the most interesting parts of these changes is what happened to Xerneus and Yvelthal. Their original names (Eikusu and Wai) were translated to X and Y respectively. More interesting is how the two creatures switched roles during development; Xernei was once a Dark type with the ability Pressure, but in the last game he became a Fairy with the power Fairy Aura. Likewise, Yveltal was originally a fairy.

Another discovery in this part of c Pokemon leaks are Mega Jynx canceled by Mega Evolution. Mega Jynx never seems to have received a 3D model, but leakers have revealed some reference artwork, along with stats, Ice/Psychic types, and a Magic Guard ability.

Lady Gaga in audio files

The wave of leaks revealed some interesting things X and I audio files, including “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga. According to leaks and The Cutting Room Floor, this song was used to test audio streams. Less surprising, but no less intriguing, is the use of audio from Black Pokemon and Whitewith a number of direct copies/remixes of tracks from these games used as placeholders. The audio leaks also revealed a number of prototype songs and sound effects, including early versions of Kant's “Legendary Battle” theme and the “Battle of Wild Pokemon” theme. Of particular note is the understanding that Xernaeus, Yvelthal, and Sigard were once willing to have unique themes rather than one common theme.
