PlayStation Plus now has an Astro Bot Cameos section

PlayStation has added an Astro Bot Cameos section to PS Plus.
The section contains all links to Astro Bot games available on PS Plus.
Hopefully the section will grow as new bots are added through the Astro speed run level and beyond.

Astro Bot is not only a fantastic platformer, but one that celebrates PlayStation history with a growing list of bots that pull from games that many haven't thought about in years, or perhaps never even heard of. If the Astro Bot reminded you of an old game, or you've come across a character you'd like to go back and play for the first time, PlayStation Plus now has a section dedicated to the games featured by the bots in Astro Bot.

Spotted by IGN's Kevin Diaz, the aptly titled Astro Bot Cameos section features games featuring bots in the order in which they can be found, with characters that have their own levels. Minor spoilers for Astro Bot's PlayStation mascot levels, but Ape Escape comes first, followed by God Of War, Uncharted, and so on, as shown in game order in the PS Store's Astro Bot Cameos section.

Although it is set by default, when I checked the section myself, the games were in a completely different order. As with all PS Plus sections, games can be ordered by release date or platform, whichever you prefer.

This section should now be available on your PS5 and its tab can be found at the bottom of the screen under the PS Plus section. It's surprising that there isn't something like this on the PS Store for people without Plus to buy games from, but it's really appreciated because this way subscribers can explore the history of PlayStation at no extra cost. Especially older games that are locked to PS Plus Premium, the highest level of the subscription service, if they were released on a platform older than PS4.

While I have credits for the game, a cursory look at the titles included in the Cameos collection revealed some bots I have yet to find. For example, I still don't remember saving Selene's bot from Returnal, even though I was sure she would be there. I also didn't realize that some of the golf stuff in Astro Bot was a reference to Everybody's Golf, which is available on PS Plus Extra.

It looks like PlayStation is sticking with PS Plus playable games like God Of War Ragnarok that are missing from the Astro Bot Cameos collection for now. Helldivers 2 and Rise Of The Ronin are also absent, although those two games were added to the game just last week. There's also Days Gone, which I'm sure John Garvin is excited about.
