Oleksandr Khyzhniak, Ukraine’s gold medal-winning boxer, returns home and lifts spirits amid war

KYIV: Ukraine's gold medal-winning boxer Alexander Khizhnyak fired a military salute to a crowd gathered to celebrate his return to the war-torn country from the Paris Olympics. After getting off the special train “Olympic Express” at the central station of Kyiv, 29-year-old Khizhnyak met fans, friends and relatives. The athlete from Poltava is also a soldier of the border service of Ukraine. He is the first gold medalist of the 2024 Olympics to bring home the award.
