It may be hard to believe, but Nintendo Switch about to turn eight years old. Nintendo's hybrid console was released back in March 2017, the same year that Horizon: Zero Dawn and Breath of the wild were released. Normally, when a system has been on the market for such a long period of time, the later years of its life tend to be pretty lackluster in terms of first-party releases and exciting new announcements. However, this was not the case with the Nintendo Switch. fronts on the way up in age 2024 was a pretty good year a strong year for the Switch, all things considered. Nintendo held some well-received demos this year and showed off some major exclusives coming to the console in the near future, such as Metroid Prime 4, Mario and Luigi: Brotherhoodand Pokemon Legends: ZA.
2024 also saw the release of many high-quality Nintendo Switch games, both exclusive and cross-platform. Just last month, for example, Nintendo launched The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomwhich was met generally positively by critics. Earlier this year, titles such as The lord of the unicorn, Princess Peach: Showtime, Grounded, Animal well, Lorelei and laser eyesand Paper Mario: The Millennium Door remake also debuted on Switch. That's not all, though, because even more games are coming to the console in 2024. In particular, October 25 Banja Tui is finally heading to the Switch via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscription service.

Banja Tui is the sequel to the cult classic 3D platformer Banjo kazoo. It was developed by the famous British studio Rare and released exclusively for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. In terms of scope, the game is much more ambitious than its predecessor. Banja Tui gives players interconnected non-linear environments to explore that are far larger than any level in the original Banjo kazoo. In addition, the game has a multiplayer mini-game mode that can support up to four players. While the plot, which follows Banjo and Kazuya on the run as they try to stop the evil witch Gruntilda from destroying the island they inhabit, isn't much to write home about, the gameplay holds up even though day
Rare games weren't available on Nintendo's current consoles, but that's been changing lately
Banja Tui and its predecessor came out in an era when Rare was synonymous with the Nintendo brand. Throughout the 1990s, the British developer made a name for itself by releasing hit after hit on Nintendo consoles, starting with Killer instinct and Donkey Kong Country to Fighting frogs and Jet Force Gemini. However, after Rare was acquired by Microsoft in 2002, the company stopped supporting Nintendo's home systems. Because of this, it was hard to find rare games on Nintendo consoles for quite some time.
Fortunately, a number of titles from Rare's back catalog have appeared on Nintendo Switch Online in the past few years, especially those released on Nintendo's retro consoles. Many of the game studios owned by Microsoft like Killer instinct (SNES, 1995), Explosive case (N64, 1997), and Snake Rattle N' Roll (NES, 1990), is now playable on the Switch. Even the original Banjo kazoo was added to NSO back in 2022, finally making the title available on a modern platform other than Xbox.
Banjo-Tooie will be available to more players than ever before, just like Banjo-Kazooie
Like its predecessor, Banja Tui was also exclusive to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in terms of current-gen systems. Now that the game will soon be available to all members of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscription service, more people will be able to experience it than ever before. Possibly a controversial Xbox 360 exclusive Banjo kazoo: nuts and bolts also join Banjo kazoo and Banja Tui on Switch ever, but considering it's never been released on a Nintendo console, fans probably shouldn't hold their breath for it to happen.
