Explanation of Dragon King Anaga in Mortal Kombat
First presented in 2004 Mortal Kombat: DeceptionAnaga was the first ruler of the Outer World and the teacher of Shao Kahn. Like Shao Kahn, Onaga was a powerful conqueror and had the ability to raise the dead, making his army seem almost invincible. However, Onaga himself was not invulnerable and sought immortality by drinking the blood of an infant Great Dragon. Onago's life was cut short before he could attempt to achieve immortality, as Shao Han poisoned him and usurped his throne. Millennia later, after the death of Shao Kahn by Kuan Chi and Shang Tsung Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliancethe spirit of Onago tricked the materials artist Shudink into resurrecting him in Reptilian's body in a monstrous, dragon-like form.
U DeceptionAnaga is quickly able to defeat the titular deadly alliance alongside the thunder god Raiden, though his soul-infused army is decimated. Guilty of his role in resurrecting Onago, Shujinka traveled the realms recruiting and acquiring the abilities of several fighters in order to defeat the Dragon King. Meanwhile, Anaga acquired the six Kamidogu amulets and the Shinaka amulet, intending to use them to conquer and unite the realms with an army of resurrected fighters. Shujinko, using the power of each fighter in the Deadly battle at that time was able to defeat Anaga and destroy Kamidoga.
Anaga's fate in the original Mortal Kombat timeline
After his defeat at the hands of Shujink, Onaga's spirit was sent to the Netherworld, where Elder God Shinak offered to cooperate with the Dragon King, along with Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, to help the god gain unlimited power by defeating the Blaze creature. Anaga was promised control of the outside world for his help, though he secretly planned to take Blaze's power for himself in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. During the climactic battle of Armageddon, Anaga is shown fighting the resurrected Shao Kahn and is presumably defeated off-screen, as Kahn is shown victorious in early 2011. Deadly battle.
While Onaga appears or is at least mentioned in several
Deadly battle
games, it could only be played in
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
until now.
Anaga's potential future in Mortal Kombat
While Titan Liu Kang retraces the origins and fates of many characters in his new timeline in the Mortal Kombat 1the threat of Anaga still remains. It is said that thousands of years ago, General Shao's ancestors helped defeat and imprison Anag deep in the Outer World's Caogan Mountain. However, fueled by his desire to usurp the power of Queen Sindel and Mylina and destroy the people of Earth, General Shao seeks to free and tame Anag to use as a weapon in his rebellion. At the end of Reiko Tower, he tries to tame Anago, while in some pre-battle dialogue, General Shao states that he has already tamed the Dragon King. Heras and Liu Kang even mention the threat of the Titan Anaga in a pre-battle dialogue sequence.
Little is currently known about Anaga's history in this timeline, but Sindel referred to the Dragon King as the most dangerous being to ever roam the Outworld. The Dragon King's army still exists in this timeline, but it is never clearly explained if it was created by Anaga. Regardless of the origin of the new Anag, the Dragon King could be the next main antagonist in the finale Mortal Kombat 2 or the future Mortal Kombat 1 DLC, either as a tamed device of General Shao or as a Titan invading from an alternate timeline. Considering how easily the original Onaga was able to defeat the deadly alliance and Raiden, the new Onaga may prove to be the deadliest threat Titan Liu Kang and his allies have yet faced.
