Marvel has experimented with many different genres and types of gameplay over the years. From open-world action-adventure to turn-based strategy games with an occult twist, live-action co-op games, and even a few virtual reality titles, Marvel offers a variety of video games for a wide variety of audiences.
But if you look back over the past decade or two of Marvel video game releases, the vast majority of experiences have been third-person action games with a Teen ESRB rating or lower. While these games may deal with heavier themes and may have a lot of dramatic moments, they generally tend to stay lighthearted. While this is obviously a natural fit for the Marvel brand, it would be nice to see Marvel experiment with some darker, more mature themes and features from time to time. For example, there's one type of horror game that could be perfect for Marvel this time next year.
