Marines who deserve a promotion

Key conclusions

  • Marines stop pirates from dominating the world of One Piece.
  • Some marines like Kuyaku and Prince Grus deserve a promotion.
  • Characters like Bogarde and Rosinant demonstrate selflessness.

Without the marines, the pirates would be the dominant force One Piece. The people who maintain the organization work hard to ensure that pirates do not wreak havoc around the world. Obviously, some Marines are more dedicated and put more effort into their jobs.

Unfortunately, their actions are not always recognized. Superiors can be biased and easily turn a blind eye to a soldier's achievements if they choose. With that in mind, here are some Marines who should be promoted for their actions.

7 Kujak

Current rank: Rear Admiral

Kujaku from the anime One Piece

Kujaku is the granddaughter of Tsuru, who is a legendary marine. Kuyaku is fearless and hardly bothered by difficulties. She is confident in her abilities, so she does not hesitate to take on risky missions.

Kujak has Muchi Muchi no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. Power is tied to her whip. Once a person is under attack, they will inevitably become subservient to Kuyak, following her every command. This ability is not limited to living things; even inanimate things like buildings can be turned into obedient slaves. Kujaku was instrumental in saving Kobe in Hachinohe. So, she proved that she deserves a promotion.

6 Prince Hrus

Current rank: Rear Admiral

Prince Grus from One Piece

Prince Grus is part of a new generation of Marines. He is one of the few young Marines who has proven that he can handle tough situations. Grus was first introduced in a story involving the Bege family. However, his proper debut came in the Egghead arc.

Prince Grus is a talented warrior, as evidenced by his performance in Hochinos, where he helped Garp rescue Kobi. Grus used his Gunyo Gunyo no Mi to create clay golems to attack and distract the pirates on Hachinosa. Although Grus is very talented, he may have to work a little harder to become a Vice Admiral.

5 Bogard

Current Title: Unknown

Bogarde from One Piece

Bogard is Monkey D. Garp's right-hand man. He has been a part of the organization for decades and there is no doubt that he is loyal to the Marine Corps. Bogard hasn't been in too many fights, but he has a ton of experience. He knows his limits and does not take recklessly without thinking.

Bogard's rank is unclear, suggesting that he is at least an ensign. If so, Bogard certainly deserves the rank of rear admiral or at least commodore. As the story quickly draws to a close, fans will soon learn Bogard's true power and rank.

4 Racinant

Last known rank: Commander

Death of Corazon

Donquixote Rosinante was the son of Homing. Unlike his brother, Rocinante was kind and caring. He knew that Doflamingo was on a path of destruction, so he decided to stop him by taking cover. Rosinant joined the Marines and returned to Daflamingo to monitor his activities.

Rosinant was great at his job and his devil fruit played a crucial role in helping him trick his brother and the rest of the team. Rosinante's Nagi Nagi no Mi nullified ambient sound, making it perfect for his trickery. Rosinant got all the important details related to Doflamingo that he would never have known if it wasn't for Verga. At the time of his death, Rosinant was just a commander. A man of his level should have been at least a captain.

3 X-Drake

Current rank: Rear Admiral

X-Drake in his Allosaurus hybrid form in One Piece

X-Drake is the captain of SWORD, a top secret Marine Corps organization. He went undercover for years and made everyone believe he was Supernova in his quest to become a great pirate. X-Drake successfully infiltrated the Beast Pirates to learn more about Yonko's plans and inform his fellow SWORD members.

X-Drake wields Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Allosaurus. It is an ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows him to transform into an Allosaurus. This greatly improves his physical attributes, allowing him to take on stronger enemies with no problem. X-Drake is currently a rear admiral, but a promotion is definitely in the offing.

2 Kobe

Current rank: Captain

At the time of his introduction, no one could have predicted that Kobe would become one of the most underrated characters in One Piece. He joined the Marines after Luffy rescued him from Alvida's clutches. Afterwards, Garp took Coby under his wing and trained him to become stronger. The training was a resounding success, and Kobe ended up improving physically and mentally.

Kobe was involved in the incident in Rocky Port, for which he received the nickname “The Hero”. Kobe was also involved in a major battle on Hachinohe, where he managed to destroy Pizarro's giant arm with a single attack. In addition to these feats, Kobe also earned the endorsement of Garp, who called him the future of the Marine Corps. With all that in mind, Kobe deserves to be at least a Vice Admiral.

1 Smoker

Current rank: Vice Admiral

Smoker avoids the attack with his Logia powers in one piece

Smoker is one of the few recurring characters in the One Piece which are not affiliated with the Straw Hat Pirates. Smoker made his debut in the Logtown Arc, where he defeated Luffy and nearly captured him. However, the Dragon saved his son and foiled the Smoker's plans. Smoker didn't give up and followed the Straw Hats into the Grand Line.

Despite his lack of screen time, Smoker remains a fan favorite and has high hopes for him. One of the main reasons Smoker deserves a promotion is because he is among the few Marines who care about the welfare of people. He is against the manipulation of the news, which the current Marine Corps hierarchy is very fond of. For now, Smoker will remain a vice admiral, but he will likely lead the Marine Corps.
