How Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles' Remaster Could Make the Biggest Splash Ever

An immediate moment for some fans Power battlesThe announcement announced the participation of Aspyr Studio Battlefront: Classic CollectionLaunch fiasco. However, Aspyr has experience with more than just others Star Wars ports, but saw something of a redemption later this year with a solid remastering Bounty hunter. Moreover, there are no signs of this Jedi Power Battles will have online functionality, so it's unlikely that much will go wrong. On the other hand, despite a lot of promise, fans should keep their fingers crossed for this remake.

The 13 new characters in Jedi Power Battles should bring something fresh to the table

13 new characters were announced Jedi Power Battles' remaster, in addition to the news that secret characters from the original will be available from the start. Until then, according to the PlayStation Blog, “Rifle Droid, Staff Tusken Raider, Ishi Tib, and Weequay” will be available to unlock. It's likely that the only new characters will be those already available as assets in the original, which describes the above, but that still leaves a lot of options. Jawas, Gungan Warriors, and/or Draideks are solid candidates for this role, though if Aspir decides to create entirely new assets, other Jedi from Episode I (such as Yadl or Yarael Poof) would be interesting choices.

The remastered Jedi Force Battles should take a cue from the Dreamcast

According to the PlayStation Blog, Aspyr improvements to Jedi Power Battles will be “based on a post-PlayStation extended release”. This means that Aspyr will use the bones of the port found on the beloved Sega Dreamcast, which many fans consider to be the better version. While it's nice that some of the PlayStation interfaces will be retained, fans should bet that Aspyr will get more from the Dreamcast than the PS1, as the latter was much more rigid.

Moreover, Aspyr should focus on optimization – which has been a problem for the time being Star Wars games. Battlefront: Classic Collection had an incredibly bloated file size, and even in the more well-received remasters, the file content increased many times over. So far, Aspyr has promised “smoother jumps, better balance and a new main menu image”, but how this will work is still unknown. Given that this game has a reputation for teasing, a thorough cleaning is definitely in order.

More accessibility features to handle more complexity

Jedi Power Battles It's notoriously difficult, and that's not a bad thing at all. However, it's become pretty standard for remasters of hardcore retro games to include accessibility options. Given that Aspyr already has a finished game to work with, the studio could consider going all out with the difficulty options, allowing players to modify the AI, damage levels, and RNG staging as much as they want. Also, Aspyr could give these options a ceiling above the standard game, allowing those looking for a challenge to dial things up to a comical degree.
