Indiana Jones and the Great Circle review

Indiana Jones and the Great Wheel offers some of the best puzzles and tomb raiding in a video game, matching Spielberg's films in many ways.

40 years later Temple of Doom canonized the breakup of Indy and Marion, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle offers long-awaited clarity on how this happened. As ComicBook notes, the game's opening sequence shows Indy finding a gift from Marion in the form of a new diary, prompting his teacher Marcus Brody to question him about the gift's origins. Although Indy was initially evasive, it was later revealed that he had suddenly dumped Marion to go to Siwa, Egypt in an attempt to escape some of the problems that had arisen in their relationship. All of this takes place between the events of the first two Indiana Jones movies where the new game takes place.

Indy had been avoiding Marion for months leading up to the events of The Great Circle.

The game's opening sequence also shows Marion trying to contact Indy for months after he dumped her. While he was in Egypt, Brody answered Marion's calls, which eventually stopped. All of this means that their breakup was initiated by Indy, who was essentially her ghost until she surrendered.

As for the reasons for his act, the fourth Indiana Jones the film offers some clues on that front. During Kingdom of the Crystal SkullIndy tells Marion that he has never won an argument with her, implying that they have argued a lot and that he felt insecure in her presence.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on December 9. Anyone who purchased the $34.99 Digital Premium upgrade can play it starting December 6th. While the first version of the game will be exclusive to Xbox Series X/S and PC, Microsoft has already confirmed that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle also on its way to PS5.
