How to refit and upgrade your ship in Ys X: Nordics

Ys X: Nordic countries lets you sail the high seas on your ship as you fight sea battles, defeat the undead and explore the islands of Abelia Bay. However, you are given the Sandras, a ship that can barely sail and serves more as a monument than a seagoing vessel.

But luckily, the game allows you to upgrade and retool the ship to improve its abilities over the course of the story, allowing you to make it a worthy companion on your journey across Abelia Bay. While the upgrade may seem minimal at first, you'll quickly find that even the smallest upgrade can make a big difference to your ship.

How to upgrade and upgrade your ship

To make any changes to your ship, you will have to head to the ship's master. The first ship you will encounter is Ulvar on the island of Balta. During your first encounter, Ulvar will make the necessary adjustments to Sandras so that you can safely complete the rite of shield brotherhood.

However, when you're done with all of this, you can return to Ulvar. Now you can upgrade and improve your ship for a priceand you can also dress up your ship with decorations if you have Sandras Pack DLC. For now, Ulvar will be the only shipmaster you'll have access to until you get further into the story.

After you rescue Cruise on Termina Island, he will join your team. Once you get to Chapter 4, Cruz will be available on the Sandras as a ship's master. After that, you can access ship upgrades and refits from anywhere on the high seas heading to the communal table below deck.

How to unlock more updates

As you progress through the story, you'll automatically unlock several upgrades for your ship. However, the best way to unlock additional upgrades is to find the villagers of Karnak.

Whenever you save a resident of the village of Karnakyou will receive the appropriate upgrade in the Upgrade/Refit Shipwright Shop menu. The upgrades you get for rescuing these villagers also reflect their role in the crew. Note that upgrading your ship requires gold, along with other materials.

The most common upgrade material for your ship is this The main stock of craftsso make sure you stock up on these when you want to upgrade your ship. Along with the Basic Craft Stock item, some upgrades will require additional materials such as Celadon Clay or Aged Wood.

One of the best ways to collect these items is to participate in naval battles and collect scattered items in the open sea.

Some blueprints and upgrades can only be unlocked after completing a certain part of the story or can be purchased on merchant ships. These blueprints can unlock a new type of ammunition upgrade that can be purchased multiple times to increase power.

However, you should make sure that you only purchase capacity upgrades to suit your needs. If you buy too many capacity upgrades, you won't have any resources left for other, more useful upgrades.

There is a small priority icon next to the update request. Modernization of higher priority provides more bonuses compared to the lower priority ones, but they also require more materials to unlock.

How to manage ship loading

There are a total of six options in loading the ship. First place for normal artillery. You can get multiple ammo types for this slot by purchasing upgrades, but you're only allowed to choose one at a time.

The default ammo for Normal Artillery allows you to deal moderate damage to the ship and damage, while the Smasher Shot ammo allows you to deal heavy damage but moderate damage to the ship.

The second slot in crew allows you to select heavy ammo to attack where default ammo is better in most cases, and the remaining four slots in the loadout are for special ammunition. Note that special ammo is limited, but capacity can be increased by purchasing upgrades at Shipwright's Upgrade/Refit menu.
