How to make your selection carry over in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

Life is Strange: Double Exposure follows Max, the protagonist from the first game in the series, 10 years after we last saw her. She's back on a mystery where she needs to find out who killed her friend Sophie (and why), and she's got some cool new powers to go along with it.

The story itself has no direct connection to the first Life is amazingbut many Day One fans doubted whether Khloe would be present in the new season. For now Double exposure primarily focuses on Max's new life at Caledon University, there's a way you can carry over the choices you made in the first game so they can affect the overall story Double exposure.

How to transfer progress to double exposure

While you can't move the save to Life is Strange: Double Exposure from the original game, you can make some choices while talking to Sophie to determine how Max reacts to her story and who you can see updates from throughout the game. After you and Sophie explore the abandoned bowling alley, she will ask you about the “blue-haired girl” whose picture she found in your wallet. Here you can make several choices in a dialog that explains how you decided the first one Life is amazing ended.

First, Sophie will ask who is in the photo and you can answer:

  • “We were just friends”
  • “We were schoolboys”

While there wasn't anything overtly romantic between Chloe and Max in the first game (besides the kiss, of course, but that was a choice you had to make), this choice is more based on how you felt when you were their relationship. If you haven't played the first one yet Life is amazingthen it's all about the backstory you'd like to create for Max. The answer you give here informs the choice you have in Sophie's next question, which is simply: What happened to Chloe?

  • “she died”
  • “We broke up”https://gamerant.com/”We broke up”

If you previously chose the “friends in high school” answer, you'll be able to explain that you and Chloe broke up, but choosing that you were just friends will give you the “broke up” option. Here you can transfer whether you donated Arcadia Bay in the first Life is amazing.

How the choices you make change the story

Depending on the choices you made while talking to Sophie, you'll receive updates and messages from Chloe while checking your phone or from people in Arcadia Bay like Joyce and Victoria. If you choose to save Chloe, you'll also be able to find her letter in Max's room and a happier photo than the one you would have picked up if you sacrificed her the first time Life is amazing.

The bad news for Pricefield fans is that there is no way around it. Chloe remains special to Max no matter what you choose, but the ninth deck decided to cut her out of Max's life in this sequel, regardless of what choices you made in the original game.

At least when you choose the high school sweetheart, Max explains how they were in a serious relationship for years before deciding to end it. Their romantic history and their history as people who have known and cared for each other for a long time remains an important part of Max's backstory throughout Life is Strange: Double Exposure, and there is some comfort in that.
