Welcome to PlayStation this is a new feature for PlayStation 5 this is the new first screen you see when you turn on your PlayStation. This screen is highly customizable, allowing you to add or remove widgets to prioritize what you think is most important.
PlayStation Welcome also has a background that can be changed to pretty much any photo you want, although this background is visible behind your current widgets and will disappear when you move away from the PlayStation Welcome icon. Although this is not the same system of topics that and PlayStation 4; players can customize it and at least customize the background that will be visible every time the PlayStation is turned on.
How to change the PlayStation welcome background
PlayStation Welcome will be the first icon you look at every time PlayStation 5 comes on and pressing the left stick or d-pad will bring up the welcome page completely. To change the background, open the welcome page and double click up to move the cursor to the edit button. Swipe right twice to select the background option to reveal three background options. Whatever background or photo you choose remains the welcome page background until another is chosen.
Displayed widgets can be turned on or off to display only the ones you want, but three must always be included. For those who prefer backgrounds over widgets, include the following three:
- Battery life
- Trophies
- Shop
Although these three appear as smaller widgets on the left side of the screen, most of the screen will remain open to show the background.
How to get a different background on PlayStation Welcome
The easiest and most straightforward way to get a photo from the game as a background is this do it yourself using the screenshot option in any game. The third opening in the background menu is your media gallery, which allows you to select any photo you've taken as your background. This option is not only the easiest, but also guarantees the best quality of photos.
Also using screenshots you can go to the PlayStation Store and take screenshots of promotional photos from the games to use as your backgroundwhich will also always be a guarantee of a high-quality photo.
You can find the images on your PC and download them to a USB before connecting that USB to your PlayStation. When you connect to the Media Gallery network, you get another option that lets you open the images on the USB and take a screenshot of them to use as a backgroundalthough this method often results in lower quality images unless you capture what you need online using a PC.
