Talk to the guard and you'll learn that his name is Beecher and that General Wright asked for him find out who the extra guard is which came from the crack. They think there's an echo around that doesn't belong, so Zelda has to search to find out what's going on.
The first thing you need to do is talk to the guard on the bridge to the left of the well (in front of the barracks). We used the echo from the water block to reach him.
The soldier mentions to Zelda that each guard has their own equipment was in charge of the Barracksso she has to check for missing gear.
Enter the barracks and talk to the guard to start a short scene. Basically, you learn that one of the soldiers in town has damaged gear and it's fake. Fortunately, you don't have to travel far to find a fake.
Go outside and talk to the guard standing next to the well. If you look closely at his spear, the tip is missing.
Return to the barracks to answer some questions Beecher to find out who the fake guard is.
- First question: Where did you see the suspicious soldier? Answer: Near the well.
- Second question: And what equipment was damaged? Answer: Lance.
