Whether you're finding gourmet recipe cards in the wild while exploring or just messing around with ingredients using a fire plate on your home island, Aloft has several cooking recipes that provide extra health and occasional stat boosts when consumed , while you are on an adventure.

Aloft is currently in early access, so we'll update our guide if things change over time before full launch.

Cook meals with the stove on the fire

​​​​​​While you will get a small boost by consuming raw ingredients, the fastest way to earn the best stat boost in Aloft is to eat prepared meals for extra health and extra stats. Not only does food replenish your health more when consumed than using standard bandages, but you'll also get time-limited buffs that will make things like fighting monsters or sprinting across a planet much faster. The increase in characteristics is determined by timebut the effects last all the time, which is often a few minutes of real time.

It is likely that the first courses you will get if you find food in chests while exploring new islands. They are hidden in treasure chests and various baskets that you find in the ruins of what mostly look like cities, but they can also be hidden in stray chests and baskets elsewhere. Even dishes that seem unsatisfying in real life benefit your character always take food when you find themeven if you have access to cooking.

Before you can cook your own food, you'll need to find a recipe Cooking stovestone plate you will put on an open fire like a bonfire or a fireplace (both of which are also unlocked crafting recipes). Once you've placed the cookstone, interact with it to open the cooking menu, where you can either choose three ingredients experiment on your own or cook recipes you found while exploring.

They may be few and far between than other resources, but you will periodically find gourmet recipe cards in treasure chestsespecially when exploring large planets, which often require significant work to destroy nodes of corruption to heal the unhealthy ecosystem you find. Simple interact with the Gourmet Recipe card to learn about it if you selected it on the inventory screen.

However, you are not limited to using the recipes you know! They are stored on a separate tab under your ingredients, but you can try them if you want experiment with ingredients to discover new recipes – Who knows what you can do!

When cooking on your kitchen stone, you will see a flame icon to the right of your ingredients after you've added them, indicating that you're in the process of cooking! You will need to keep the meter on the yellow flame periodically pressing the button shown to keep the meter yellow but don't let it go in the red for too longbecause it will always result in a burnt food which wastes your ingredients and provides much less benefit.

Once you've cooked your food on the stovetop, you'll need to do this Remove the finished food before you can add other ingredients if you plan to continue cooking. You can also remove ingredients from the menu after adding them if you've done it by mistake.
