How to bring a flower back from the brink of death

Most puzzles in Luma Island can be spotted quite easily as they are revealed when you open up new biomes or cut down trees. However, there is one mystery that usually hides inconspicuously in the corner, not crying out for you to do anything to solve it.

This is the Dying Flower puzzle, one of the only ones in the game Luma Island which can only be solved once, and which is attached to the achievement “Bring back the flower from the edge of death”. If you've seen these flowers in places you're exploring but don't know what to do with them, here's how you can solve the problem.

How to save a dying flower

Saving a dying flower Luma Island it's as simple as taking a watering can and making sure it's watered for a few days. You need to water it once a day for about three game days to make it grow, and once it grows, a treasure chest will appear and you can reap the rewards. The hardest part of solving the Dying Flower puzzle, however, is finding it in each biome:

Farm

You can find a dying farm flower near the Mushroom Man. From his shop, head west, but stay on the north side of the map. Just keep following this path and you should see a flower hidden inside a wall of rocks.

If you are traveling from your caravan, you can take a similar route from the Ancient Farm Temple. Just head east but hug the north wall until you see a flower. Water it for about three days and you should have a treasure chest to open once it grows.

Forest

A dying flower in the forest is a bit more difficult to find because you have to open new paths before you can find it. When you first enter the forest, follow the path forward until you reach a large river that flows through the forest. Once at the river, head north and look for a small cave to enter. Go through this cave until you reach the other bank – taking many torches with you – and you'll be on the other side of the river.

Head around the water in the direction you started from. There is a large tree on this side that you can knock down to create a short path across the river. Now turn around and continue east until you're at a muddy river. You can cross this river by quickly walking to different rocks and moving the wooden planks. After you cross the muddy river, you'll want to continue following the path to the east.

If you reach the beach, then you've gone too far, because the Dying Flower is on the hill directly above the beach. It's next to a collection of three mushrooms hiding among the trees in the very east of the Forest map.

Mountain

When you first reach the mountain, you need to follow the eastern path to find a dying flower in that region. Unlike the forest, you don't have to find alternate routes or open paths to get to it, but you do have to keep an eye on it because it can be easily missed.

Mushroom's shop is next to small ponds where you can fish for granite bass, and Dying Flower is next to his shop and those ponds. Just follow the path uphill, but be sure to watch out for the dying flower to your left as you go up.

The jungle

How to get to the jungle Luma Island much more difficult than finding a dying flower in this region, but you still need to do some research to spot it. When you first reach the jungle, try to spot the river in front of you in this starting area. Most of it is walkable, so make your way and follow the river until you reach dry land again. At this point you should see large flowers sprouting blade-like leaves. Go past them and take a sharp left, following the narrow path to reach the top of the hill.

When you get to the top of the hill, go around the small pond here and keep following the path until you see a dying flower on the right. It's just behind the pond and if you keep an eye out you won't miss it.
