Updated May 12, 2025, by Gemma Johnson: In Hogwarts Legacy, players can test their skills in combat against various challenging enemies, including Infamous Foes, which have some unique names and backstories. Hogwarts Legacy’s Infamous Foes are essentially stronger versions of regular enemies that players can defeat to obtain several challenge rewards. By finding and beating all Infamous Foes located in Hogwarts Legacy, players can tick off the Infamous Foes combat challenge and bag themselves several cosmetics for their efforts. However, with 21 Infamous Foes to find across the game’s vast open world map, it can be helpful to know where to find them all, in addition to combat strategies that players can use to beat them. Some are also hidden behind completing certain side quests, such as one in Hogwarts Valley called The Riparian Troll. This update reorganizes and adds more information about the Foes, plus includes some combat strategies players might want to utilize where relevant.
All Infamous Foe Locations In Hogwarts Legacy
With a lot of ground to cover, the quickest way to reach and battle most of the Infamous Foes in Hogwarts Legacy is to fast-travel by Floo Flame, choosing the nearest one to their location marked by the skull icon on the map, which looks like a skull inside an upside-down triangle. Equipping a broom or mount is also essential to reduce time traveling on foot once players reach the specific Infamous Foe location.
Altogether, there are 21 Infamous Foes in Hogwarts Legacy that can be organized by map regions north of Hogwarts Castle, central regions below Hogwarts Castle, like Hogwarts Valley, and those in the southern part of the map beyond the Coastal Caverns. There is also a handy counter on the top right of the map screen that players can use to check how many Infamous Foes they’ve beaten, with all Infamous Foes located on the map as outlined below:
Northern Infamous Foe Locations In Hogwarts Legacy
There are 6 Infamous Foes located in the north of Hogwarts Castle in Hogwarts Legacy, with 4 located in Hogsmeade Valley alone.
Rampant Dugbog – Hogsmeade Valley Infamous Foe
The Rampant Dugbog is located by the winding river directly south of the East North Ford Bog Floo Flame, at the base of a waterfall. The Rampant Dugbog isn’t any more difficult than standard Dugbog enemies. However, it sits by a group of around 5 Cottongrass Dugbogs, so players need to dodge roll or use Protego to defend against their tongue-swiping attacks, which can be devastating. According to its Collection Card, the Rampant Dugbog is corrupted with magic.
Tempeste Thorne – Hogsmeade Valley Infamous Foe (Falberton Castle)
Tempeste Thorne is an Infamous Foe that players can find inside the castle east of Falberton Castle Floo Flame. Head inside Falberton Castle to battle Tempeste Thorne, a cruel poacher who wears red. The battle involves defeating her and her group of poachers, and the fight shouldn’t prove too difficult if players have some of the best spells and plenty of Wiggenweld Potions to heal as necessary. Her Collection Card indicates she was originally a student at Hogwarts with a beast-hunting background. She was also one of the first to join Rookwood’s Empire.

Gwendolyn Zhou – Hogsmeade Valley Infamous Foe
Players can find an Infamous Foe called Gwendolyn Zhou during the A Basis For Blackmail side quest with companion Natty inside the Ashwinder Hideout located by the Hogs Head in Hogsmeade. It seems Gwendolyn had the misfortune of joining Rookwood’s cause unwillingly.
In the hideout, players can take out Gwendolyn quickly using Ancient Magic finishers or launching obstacles from around the room. It also helps to get rid of the surrounding patrolling enemies beforehand, using stealth or other means to deal with them separately.
Bardolph Barmont’s Corpse – Hogsmeade Valley Infamous Foe (Upper Hogsfield)
Bardolph Barmont’s Corpse is the reanimated corpse of Claire Beaumont’s brother and is an Infamous Foe that players can find during the Hogwarts Legacy‘s Brother Keeper’s side quest. To start the quest, players should travel to Upper Hogsfield and speak with Dorothy Sprottle, a woman concerned about the missing Bardolph, who has sadly turned into an Inferius.
During the quest, players must also fight other Inferi before Bardolph appears, so they will need plenty of fire spells to defeat them. Throwing environmental obstacles like explosive barrels is also highly effective.
The Absconder – Forbidden Forest
The Absconder Infamous Foe is a giant spider Infamous Foe that players can locate by completing the Absconder Encounter side quest, which takes players to the northeast area of the Forbidden Forest, to the south of the North Ford Bog Entrance Floo Flame. While the Absconder can take some time to beat using standard spells, players can speed up the fight significantly using Ancient Magic.
Pergit – North Hogwarts Region
Pergit is a goblin and the only Infamous Foe located in the North Hogwarts region in the Korrow Ruins and is discoverable through the Tale of Rowland Oakes side quest. Players can begin this quest by speaking to Adelaide Oakes in the Transfiguration Courtyard in the Astronomy Wing at Hogwarts Castle.
However, Pergit isn’t alone, and players will likely need to fight Loyalist Assassins and Warriors simultaneously, so knowing how to break their shields and fighting them one by one can help players focus on the main fight with Pergit.

Alexandra’s Troll – Hogwarts Valley Infamous Foe
Alexandra’s Troll is another Infamous Foe in Hogwarts Valley that players encounter during Hogwarts Legacy‘s Troll Control side quest, which starts in the hamlet of Brocburrow. Use the Brocburrow Floo Flame to travel there quickly to locate and speak to Alexandra Rickett to begin the quest.
The Grim And The White Wolf – Hogwarts Valley Infamous Foes
Players can find another 2 Infamous Foes in the Hogwarts Valley region called the Grim and the White Wolf, with both Foes located inside a small cave by the fast western cliff to the west of the Keenbridge Floo Flame. To find the Grim, head to the river’s end and across the arched bridge to find a small cave entrance. It’s best to lure the Grim outside and defeat the White Wolf inside the cave, which is also infested with Inferi.
According to its Collection Card, the Grim is simply a wolf enchanted with magic, but was also thought of as an omen of death.
Quagmire Troll – Hogwarts Valley Infamous Foe
The Quagmire Troll Infamous Foe is located to the northeast of the Northern South Sea Bog Floo Flame near the riverbank area. The game describes it as a particularly mean forest troll that enjoys boggy areas. Unless players have devastating spells like Avada Kedavra, the Quagmire Troll can be a challenging opponent, especially when surrounding Dugbogs join the battle. Therefore, players should ensure their level is high enough before attempting this one.
The Insatiable Spider – South Hogwarts Region Infamous Foe
The Insatiable Spider is an Infamous Foe found during the Tangled Web side quest. The spider is located towards the end of the sidequest, which takes players from Hogsmeade to Aranshire in the South Hogwarts map region.

However, when hit with high-powered spells, he’ll soon go down pretty quickly.

Grodbick – Marunweem Lake Infamous Foe
A level 35 Infamous Foe who players can find at Marunweem Lake is Grodbick, a goblin who players can either battle during Lodlok’s Loyalty main quest or by traveling there using the nearest Coastal Mine Floo Flame. Grodbick is in a group of enemies, which includes a Fortified Troll and a bunch of Loyalists. While players could take them all out, others report using the Imperio curse on the troll to do the work, taking out Grodbick and his gang in meme seconds.

Players can find 2 Infamous Foes, Ailsa Travers and the Lord of the Manor, in the same part of the Manor Cape map region. Ignite the bowl by the grim-reaper-style statue and stand on the switch to enter a small arena containing the Foes. Alisa is an Ashwinder and a devoted Rookwood follower, whereas the Lord of the Manor is an Inferius.

Dunstan Trinity – Manor Cape Infamous Foe
Also in the Manor Cape region, players can use the West Manor Cape Floo Flame to track down Dustan Trinity, an Infamous Foe located inside some heavily guarded ruins on the southeast coast of Manor Cape. Interestingly, Dunstan’s enemy collection card reveals him to be a former Hogwarts student who didn’t have any friends due to his knack for thievery.
Silvanus Selwyn – Clagmar Coast Infamous Foe
Lastly, there is only 1 Infamous Foe located on the Clagmar Coast called Silvanus Selwyn, who players can find inside the Bandit Camp Castle ruins next to the Clagmar Castle Floo Flame. According to Silvanus collection card, he was born into a life of privilege and helped pave the way towards influential people for Rookwood.
Silvanus is only a level 11 enemy that effectively performs spells like an Ashwinder Executioner, so he isn’t too tricky to beat when using a combination of powerful damage spells and Ancient Magic finishers. However, what’s more challenging about the fight is the number of buddies he has, so you may need to bring plenty of health potions and use various spells for crowd control.
Infamous Foe Challenge Rewards
Completing the Infamous Foes challenge rewards players with several masks to create an intimidating or mysterious look when changing their outfit and appearance in Hogwarts Legacy. Players can obtain different rewards according to how many Infamous Foes they defeat, as listed below:
- Avenging Wolf Mask – defeating 3 Infamous Foes.
- Avenging Owl Mask – defeat 6 Infamous Foes.
- Avenging Raven Mask – defeat 12 more Infamous Foes (21 Infamous Foes overall).
Once players have beaten an Infamous Foe, they unlock a collectible card in the Enemy Collections menu, which gives players more information about each one and their background.
