About a year ago, Hideo Kojima made a surprise appearance at PlayStation State of Play to make an announcement Ph.Da brand new tactical espionage game for PlayStation consoles. The famous game designer revealed almost nothing Ph.Dstory, setting or gameplay, but he confirmed that it will be a spiritual successor Metal Gear series he famously created. This news alone was enough to get Kojima fans buzzing with excitement. Launch date or window for Ph.D has not been announced, but it is believed to be released after the other two projects that Kojima is working on, Death Stranding 2: On the beach and OD.
Although gamers may have to wait for the next generation of consoles to get their hands on Ph.Drecent news suggests that its development may be further than expected. Shortly before the end of 2024, Hideo Kojima tweeted about the upcoming game. The Metal Gear creator revealed that casting for Ph.D was temporarily suspended due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA video game voice actor strike, but he indicated that he and his team plan to resume production on the game later this year. So far, it's a pity that Ph.D failed, the fact that it is already in the casting stage suggests that Sony may announce more about it soon.

Ph.D it's also likely to have plenty of Hollywood talent behind it, given the fact that a real film company is involved in its development. Since Ph.D is set to resume casting later this year, the characters and plot for this game/movie hybrid may already be written. If so, maybe Sony will be ready to reveal them within the next 24 months. Right now, Kojima is focused on getting Death Stranding 2 out the door, so it's unlikely he'll have much to share about his other projects in the near future. However, once DS2 will be released on PS5 this year, it can provide more information about Ph.D and ODrelated to casting or otherwise.
During Art Ph.D in the 2024 announcement, Kojima made sure to mention that 2026 would be “the 40th anniversary of his career in game production.” Perhaps this will be the year when Sony reveals more details about this tactical spy game. Judging by how Ph.D Kojima is promoting it as “the climax [his] work,” it would be wise for him to save some game announcements for such an important anniversary in his life. Perhaps Kojima will at least share some details about Ph.Dat that time.

Physint (working title) is an upcoming stealth video game developed by Kojima Productions and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Physint, directed by Hideo Kojima, is Kojima and Sony's third project and the second intellectual property from the partnership, following 2019's Death Stranding. The game has been described as an “espionage action” similar to what Kojima has done before with the Metal Gear franchise. Columbia Pictures, a division of SIE subsidiary Sony Pictures, is involved in the project in an undisclosed capacity.
