GTA 5 with expanded and improved features is finally coming to PC next year

Key conclusions

  • For a game that has been re-released as many times as GTA 5, you'd think it would be best played on PC.

  • However, this is not the case as there is a lot of content that is still exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series versions.

  • Rockstar has finally confirmed that it will bring these features to PC at some point “in the new year.”

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC will finally get some expanded and improved features from next year's PS5 and Xbox Series X release.

For a game that's been released multiple times over the last decade and has appeared on just about every new console since the PS3 and Xbox 360, you'd be surprised to think that the best way to play GTA 5 isn't on PC. Even as someone who mostly plays on consoles, I'll agree that most games are simply better on PC, but that's not the case with Rockstar's latest GTA game.

Relatives

In GTA 6, the industry is all wrong

Games should shrink in size, not explode to such incredible levels, to turn single-player games into ever-expanding worlds of live services.

Originally released on PC in 2015 with its own set of unique features, the Windows version of GTA 5 was later eclipsed by the “Enhanced and Enhanced” edition of the game, which was released in 2022 for the PS5 and Xbox Series. For a long time, fans have been wondering when the current-gen version of the game would bring features to PC, and finally they can wonder no more.

GTA 5 on PC is finally expanding and extending the features of the PS5

Earlier today, Rockstar Games shared its latest community update for GTA Online, which reveals a slew of features coming to the game over the next few months, including the December update. So far so good for GTA Online updates. Towards the end, however, there's a surprising revelation that PC gamers have been waiting for.

Noting the improvements that will come to the game in the future, Rockstar announced that there are plans to “bring the highly requested PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series features of GTA Online to the PC platform” at some point in the new year. This means we can expect them to arrive in early 2025.

For those who don't know, GTA 5 Extended and Enhanced Edition (which is what the PS5 and Xbox Series versions are called) added a lot of content that remained exclusive, such as Hao's special jobs, premium test ride, career. and Progress, and a bunch of different vehicles.

It's also likely that the update will carry over ray tracing from the PS5 and Xbox Series versions, although this has yet to be confirmed.

None of this favors the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of the game, but it was surprising to see them not in the PC version of the game. It won't happen anytime soon, however, as Rockstar finally acknowledged the problem after almost three years.
