Genshin Impact leak reveals name change for new 5-star character

Key conclusions

  • Ayano's Kimitsuki is changed to Mizuki in Genshin Impact version 5.3 for future characters.
  • Citlali is a shield mainstay and Mavuika is arguably Pyro's strongest hypercarry.
  • Mizuki is expected to be a standard 5-star banner character and needs a signature weapon.

The recent 5.3 beta updated the list of upcoming character IDs Genshin Impactchanging Kimitsuki Ayano's name to Mizuki. While the first half of Natlan introduced some new additions to the meta like Xilonen and Kinich, 5.3 should round it out with Citlali and Mavuika. The former is a shield support capable of buffing Melt teams, while the latter is expected to be the strongest Pyro hypercar in Genshin Impact – albeit at the cost of team flexibility.

The second half of Natlan will begin with the debut of a new character, Standard Banner Genshin Impactwhich will also be his first character from Inazuma. While it was originally thought to be Kimitsuki Ayano, a previous leak mentioned a 5-star character named Mizuki. She's supposed to be coming in 5.4, but it remains to be seen if Jansson will join her on event banners as a 4-star character.

The Genshin Impact leak reveals the rarity and element for Ayano and Varese

A reliable source in the Genshin Impact community reveals Ayano and Varesa's element and rarity, with the latter also implying Janson's rarity.

According to HomDGCat, Kimitsuki Ayano's name has been finalized and she will be called Mizuki from now on. As a 5-star Anemo character from Inazuma, Mizuki is expected to appear during the upcoming Natlan flagship event. Namely, the residents of Krynitsa were recently informed that a stranger would open a shop in their village. Many players believe that this is the game's attempt to foreshadow Mizuki, similar to Chiori's Genshin Impact was hinted at through the character's voice lines.

List of future characters in Genshin Impact means that Mizuki will arrive right after Lan Yan, and that players will be able to wish her on event banners starting February 12, 2025. However, Mizuki is expected to be a standard 5-star character, and thus it would make sense for Genshin Impact players to get her signature weapon first. As seen in Path of the Hunter and Beacon of the Reed Sea, there's no guarantee that Mizuki's signature weapon will ever return outside of Chronicle Banner.

It should be noted that Genshin Impact will most likely introduce a banner change in version 5.3. Going forward, all new characters are expected to appear in event banners throughout the patch. With Mizuki expected to be 5.4's only 5-star option at this point, it remains to be seen how this banner format will play out with character replays. Players will be able to learn more during the 5.3 special program live stream.
