Key conclusions
- Genshin Impact will expand Natlan in version 5.2 with new regions and characters such as Chaska.
- A leaked topographical map hints at the Sea of Jivari, a sea of ash that the Waverider may be able to reach.
- Natlan's growth could mirror that of Fontaine and could mean a significant expansion of the game's open world.
Latest topographical data for Genshin Impact not only reveals the future areas of Natlan, but also identifies the region believed to be Mare Jivari. If Genshin Impact originally launched on September 28, 2020, players only had access to Mondstadt and Liyue. Over the course of its history, it added Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, and Natlan as Teiwata's borders continued to expand in all directions. Version 5.0 introduced the first area of Natlan, allowing players to explore lands owned by the Children of Echo, Descendants of the Canopy, and the People of the Springs.
The next map expansion for Natlan's Genshin Impact planned for version 5.2, which will feature the ruins of the Eternal Empire of Achcanatlan, as well as the settlement of the Flower Feather clan. Fittingly enough, Chasca will be joining the roster in 5.2, giving players an alternative way to explore the new area without having to use Saurian form. While it's not confirmed, it's possible that 5.2 will also introduce an area owned by the Masters of the Night Wind, as Araron will also debut in the same patch.
While Uncle Teivat teased the upcoming Natlan zones with an earlier leak, a new topographical map presented by Elena paints a more detailed picture of what Genshin Impact players can expect in future updates. It's all but guaranteed that the Wealth Collective will get their due when the map expands towards the Great Tolan Volcano, although the tribe's exact location is yet to be determined. In particular, Natlan y Genshin Impact will also feature an island located between Tolan and Achcanatlan – a possible location for the Wealth Collective. Perhaps the most intriguing discovery Elena makes, however, is a lonely island in the far west that can only be Marae Jivari.
Genshin Impact leak teases Mare Jivari for upcoming Natlan update
Mare Jivari was a part Genshin Impactlore since version 1.0, and players have been wondering about it for years. Described as a sea of ashes where no wind blows, Mare Jivari is the westernmost point of Teiwat and is said to contain a sea of fire. The map shared by Elena places Mare Jivari far from Achkanatlan, meaning that players will most likely need to use the Waverider to reach it. If Natlan follows the same pattern as Fontaine, players can expect Mare Givari to be the last zone added to the region before Snow.
While leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt, it seems that Natlan will be closer in size to Fontaine than to Sumeru. That being said, if the rumors of a Mondstadt map expansion prove to be true, the open world of the Genshin Impact will grow significantly during the Natlan era. While version 5.2 won't launch until November 20, 2024, players should expect more information about future Natlan zones after October 9, 2024.
