Pokemon has many iconic designs, but without a doubt Eevee is one of the most beloved series. Eevee often goes hand-in-hand with Pikachu, and several of its unique evolutions keep up with the mascot Pokemon myself In fact, the lack of a new “Eeveelution” in recent titles has been a cause for concern, but recent leaks have finally shed some light on the matter.
The last Eeveelution to be added to the game was Sylveon, a Fairy-Type added in Generation 6 along with the debut of the Fairy-Type itself. Sylveon was certainly a welcome addition and remains one of the most popular of the bunch to this day. If anything, it made it all the more surprising that there haven't been any new Eevee forms since then. Apparently, this confusion was not unfounded, now that the new wave Pokemon leaks have revealed scrapped plans for a previously unknown Eeveelution.

If it's legit, the Pokemon Legends: ZA starters leak is a controversy waiting to happen
Pokemon Legends: ZA leaks have hit the internet, possibly revealing the game's three launch points, and many fans may not be happy if it's true.
Pokemon Sun and Moon leaks reveal canceled Eeveelution
Pokemon left a significant gap in Eeveelutions after Sylveon
Teraleak was obtained directly from Game Freak itself, and Centro Leaks posted most of the content directly to its Twitter account. While the massive leaks included in-depth character biographies and deeper knowledge of Pokemon in the world at large, the beta design and reduced content were undoubtedly the main attraction. Despite all the exciting projects already leaked, the discovery of an unreleased Eeveelution was the biggest shock.
After Eevee was first introduced in the Pokemon red and blueadding new Eeveelutions was relatively common until Sylveon was created. Considering that each Eeveelution needs to be a unique type among the others, you'd think that would limit the developers' options. This is far from the truth, as there are only eight Eeveelutions compared to the eighteen types of Pokemon.
While the first three were created together as a trio, the next four were added as two pairs of two. Sylveon is added for this reason Pokemon X and Y was somewhat of a surprise in itself, though many attributed this to the developers not wanting to detract from the new Fairy Type. However, many still assumed that the next game would resume the trend with a new Eeveelution.
Pokemon Generation 7 almost gave players an Eeveelution that never existed
Apparently, Game Freak originally intended to live up to those expectations. Pokemon sun and moon now leaks have revealed plans for a potential Flying Type Eeveelution that was cut from the final game. The leaks go so far as to suggest that a full concept design was even completed, but that the official artwork was never digitized.
Unfortunately, this is pretty much the worst-case scenario for anyone looking to take a look at the design themselves. Simply put, the lack of digitization suggests that the design probably only exists as a physical piece of art hiding somewhere in Game Freak's office itself. This makes it all but impossible for any aspiring leaker, but given the similar hunt for Mega Jynx and other unreleased designs, it's possible that fans will eventually see the original design.
The truncation of Generation 7's Flying-Type Eeveelution was met with much fanfare, which only begs the question of why it was truncated in the first place. According to the Centro Leaks post that first revealed its existence, the Flying Eevee version was simply the work of developers who felt the design was too similar to fan concepts. This criticism is heartbreaking to hear, of course, as it suggests that countless other concepts could have been scrapped for the same reason.
The leak isn't just bad news, as the developers said in the same comment that the concept could have very real potential in the future. This was said mostly in the context of a game where Flying-Type Eevee would be the “main character”, which unfortunately seems unlikely at this point. Even so, the fan reaction to the very idea of a canceled Eeveelution should be enough to indicate that there remains a clear demand for a brand new Eeveelution to show its face, whatever design it may be.
