The end, it would seem, came with liberation Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree earlier this year, along with subsequent statements indicating that this would be the last piece of content released for the game. The well-received expansion brought closure for many, but also left lore theorists stuck on a few ambiguous points that weren't addressed at the end of the DLC. Being the biggest title ever released by FromSoftware, it's only natural that the setting with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree contains the most threads of lore and loose ends of any Soulslike, but it's hard to ignore the extent to which some plot points have been left up to interpretation.
SotE came up with several answers that added to the lore of the main game, ranging from confirming the existence of Saint Trina to showing the dark history that led Marika to cruelty and devotion to the Golden Order. On the other hand, DLC raised new questions while ignoring existing aspects Elden Ringnarrative and world-building, potentially making them permanent missing links.

Relatives
Shadow of the Erdtree by Elden Ring still has FromSoftware issue
While Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is excellent in parts, FromSoftware's longstanding problem with its storytelling persists.
Face of the queen with sullen eyes
An empiricist from past centuries who can be one of several characters
As perhaps the longest running topic of speculation in the gaming community, the truth behind it Elden RingGloam-Eyed Queen remained vague after that SotEdiscoveries. Based on the item descriptions, she was supposedly the progenitor of the God Skins who wielded the power of Doomed Death through the Black Flame, but only the remaining relics of her power are seen in Elden Ring proper Despite theories linking her to Mesmer's serpentine traits or Marika's past betrayals, the Cloudy-Eyed Queen has not gained any significant new knowledge since Melina became her likeness in one of the base game endings.
How the Land of Shadows was separated from the lands in between
The extent of Marika's influence on geography is unknown
A detail highlighted by several pieces of text in the DLC is the fact that SotEThe user map used to be linked to the core world of The Lands Between, but there is no information on how this was done. As long as the sky is around Elden Ring: Shadow of the ErdtreeThe Scadutree has a projection that resembles a similar veil in the Queen's Bedroom, and there are theories linking the Mimic Veil to this process, it remains unknown what the actual mechanism, be it real or an illusion, separates the two realms.
Giant corpses and stratigraphy that defy logic
It is unclear whether a geological catastrophe created the land in between
Since the game's launch, players have speculated futilely about the origins of the massive buried corpses all over Caelida and on the giants' peaks. The giant pierced bodies are believed to be associated with Mesmer, but the corpses that drive theories about Elden RingGiants tower far above these in size and seem to have no references in the game.
It brings to mind the massive skeletons on thrones in the Eternal Cities, the inexplicable remains of apparent death. There are countless buried structures in The Lands Between that appear to have existed for centuries, and buildings such as Stormvale Castle, which appears to have been originally built and then occupied and modified in different eras, clearly the unseen have occurred tragedies and changes in power Elden Ringextinct civilizations.

Relatives
FromSoftware's Next Soulslike should make one choice more important than Elden Ring's
FromSoft's next Soulslike title could be a step up from Elden Ring by focusing more on the single choice each player has to make.
Messmer's Controversial Scale of Origin
Rhodagon seems to have predated Godfrey
Mesmer's status as Marika's secret child was already a major revelation, but SotE further revealed that he seems to be her firstborn. With Godfrey previously believed to be her Elder Lord and the father of her first group of demigods, this development disrupts the notion of the history of the entire family tree. The red hair and determined demeanor make Mesmer the son of Radagon Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree it seems pretty much guaranteed, but how Marika could have been with her significant other so long ago defies many of the timeline ideas that the base game created.
Purpose of Godwyn's Corpse Husks
Some of the most striking images of the Elden Ring have no obvious meaning
It was predicted that the DLC would delve into the bond between Michaela and Godwin, but the Prince of Death was relegated to mentions in places like the Catacombs and Stormvale, where strange growths of Death that resemble his corpse still appear. There are solid theories that suggest that Godwin's story was finished within Phia's questline and Elden RingThe Age of the Darkborn is coming to an end, but the continued presence of his strange husk seems to indicate that the demigod has unfinished business.
Origin and connection between two fingers and three fingers
Seeing the Mother of Fingers didn't bring enough closure
The riddle of the Two Fingers as strange entities that seem to convey the will of the gods stands as one of ambulanceThe most original pieces of lore, but ultimately lack any deeper explanation beyond Metir. Despite the entire area of Finger Ruins and strange finger-like structures hidden in Midrius's Manse Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtreethe origin of the Three Fingers and their connection to other magic in the world is up to the imagination. While learning where the fingers came from may be instructive, the idea that they were the accidental offspring of a godly being left behind may seem out of place.
Fossilized corpses of Non-Horncent in Enir-Ilim
The Gate of Divinity may never be fully understood
Upon arrival at the final battle arena and clash Elden Ring: Shadow of the ErdtreeRadon's promised consort, noticing that it is made up of the majestic Gates of Divinity that endow Mikel with his power, can be a terrifying realization. The gate visibly contains countless petrified bodies of the Hornsent, showing their sacrificial practices. However, upon closer inspection, the gate and much of Enir-Ilim itself is made up of many hornless corpses. As Hornsent is the only well-known culture of the tower and the Shadowlands as a whole, this sign of other peoples being erased remains an ominous sign of the age Elden Ringthe world.
