With many heroes and villains Dragon Ball Zthere is no shortage of powerful signature attacks that have the devastating power to crush opponents. Fighters from countless planets have the ability to use the ki within their bodies and channel it through the palms of their hands and other body parts to attack. Some use them for evil purposes in hopes of global domination, while those who use their powers for good are trying to stop them.
There is no character Dragon ball knows this better than Trunks, who has battled the dangers of evil a few times since. From a young age, Trunks trained alongside his father, Vegeta, in hopes of one day surpassing the Saiyan Prince and becoming the strongest fighter in the universe. To do this, Trunks created a strong list of different attacks, including the Double Buster.

Although Trunks is a character that first appeared in the main Dragon Ball Z as a young man from the future, there are two versions of Trunks that come with their own powers and abilities. For example, Future Trunks has attacks like Buster Cannon and Burst Attack, while Kid Trunks uses a different series of moves like Double Buster. Due to his young age and personality, Double Buster isn't as powerful as Future Trunks' moveset, but he can really hit an opponent and can catch an opponent off guard, especially if he takes Kid Trunks lightly.
Known as a trickster, Kid Trunks' Double Buster is the perfect attack to use as it is powerful and can be aimed anywhere he wants. Kid Trunks has shown that he has complete control over the course of the Double Buster, even after channeling the energy into his target. As a result, the Double Buster homing is effective with a warning strike and connecting with the target at any angle.
How Double Buster is performed
To use the Double Buster, Kid Trunks crouches down to stabilize his core. Kid Trunks then moves his arms back, palms open, at a height just above his shoulders to gather the ki he needs to move. When Kid Trunks has built up enough energy, he brings his hands together and sends two waves of energy towards the target. Kid Trunks also has the ability to control energy beams by using his arm to direct them anywhere.

Kid Trunks Wild Card Attack
While the Double Buster is a unique attack that can be a powerful weapon for Kid Trunks in any situation, there was only one instance where he used it in Dragon Ball Z. During a martial arts tournament, after destroying his opponents in the previous rounds, Kid Trunks was paired with Goten for a clash between hybrid Saiyans. While the two engaged in an equal physical fight, Kid Trunks wanted to make things interesting by using ki attacks. Even though they were strictly forbidden, only physical attacks were allowed, Baby Trunks couldn't resist using his new power.
Bending his arms behind his back, Kid Trunks boosted his ki attack before channeling it towards Goten, much to the dismay of the onlookers. Krillin yelled for Kid Trunks not to use the attack, but the plea went unheeded. Goten managed to dodge the attack and the waves went towards the spectators watching the tournament. At this point, Kid Trunks reveals an ace up his sleeve, using his hand to control the direction and lead him away from the audience. This is not the first time Dragon ball characters control their attacks, but it was a miracle to see a Saiyan hybrid do it at such a young age.
Neat, huh? What do you think?
Kid Trunks has used many other attacks that mimic the Double Buster, but none of them employ the strategy of focusing on two beams instead of one. The Double Buster has been featured as an attack in Kid Trunks' arsenal in video games such as Budokai series and Dragon Ball Heroes. Although each individual game has a different title, the Double Buster functions are exactly the same as in the anime.
Double Buster Variations:
- Trick Buster: A variant of the Double Buster that uses the same style and power, but instead forms a blast of energy in the form of a sphere.
