Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a game with many builds. The RPG from Larian Studios is one of the most immersive games on the market, with an engaging story and enough build variety to keep players hooked for hundreds of hours.
In a game this big and varied, it would be a shame not to try out as many playstyles as possible. Fortunately, there's a way to respect characters after you've progressed a bit in the story at little to no cost to the player.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 – The best class choice for every main character companion
Finding the right companion in Divinity: Original Sin 2 can really make things easier for you. Here's how you can get the most out of them.
How to respect in Divinity: Original Sin 2
In DOS 2, there are two methods of respecting your character, namely the Magic Mirror found on the ship of Youth, the Lady of Vengeance, and the Magic Mirror in Fort Joy. These mirrors allow the player to respect their character as they interact with them. Your companions can also respect using the same method. There are no restrictions on its use, and no costs.
You cannot change the race or gender of your character during a game session.
The mirror on the Lady Vengeance is located in the lower hold of the ship. It can only be accessed after the player completes the Lady o' War quest. This method only works after the player has escaped Fort Joy, ending Act II of the game.
If you want to respect earlier, players can use the Fort Joy Magic Mirror, which is located in the corner of the arena under the Fort Joy kitchen. Players have to jump through a few hoops to create this mirror.
- To do this, simply open the in-game menu and click “Gift Pack Features”.
- From here, players can activate various Larian Studios mods that affect gameplay in various ways.
- Click on Fort Joy Magic Mirror and accept the game terms ie. inability to disable the feature later and disabling achievements.
- Once complete, the game will create a new save file and reload the magic mirror that will appear in the arena.

Should be respected in Divinity: Original Sin 2
Respecting the character allows the player to change the attributes, abilities and even talents of the controlled character. This allows for seamless transitions between different builds. The only limitation imposed on the player is the lack of appropriate equipment and skill books.
Since there's no cost involved, there's no reason not to try out different builds to see which one suits the player best, as long as you have the appropriate skill books for the new build. The more things you try, the better you will understand the game mechanics, allowing you to enjoy the journey even more.
