Since that time Dragon Ball Super's As the Tournament of Power arc aired, fans fell in love with Goku's brand new transformation, Ultra Instinct, which allows him to use angelic techniques. However, since then fans have been eagerly waiting for Vegeta to unlock a God Technique that would once again put him on his opponent's level, which was answered in the Granola arc when Vegeta unlocked the incredible Ultra Ego!
This form essentially acted as the complete opposite of Ultra Instinct and acted as a marker to show fans that Vegeta was on a journey to achieve power, but by his own means. While the form was as powerful as Ultra Instinct when it first appeared, it has some flaws that need to be addressed before Vegeta can use it to its full potential. So let's take a look at Ultra Ego's flaws and how Vegeta can fix them in the future Dragon ball.
Disadvantages of Ultra Ego
Weaknesses in terms of his abilities

Ultra Ego is the most powerful transformation Vegeta has ever undergone. Being a Divine Technique favored by the Gods of Destruction, it puts Vegeta into a special state that is very similar to what Goku does when he goes Ultra Instinct, but the effect this form has is reversed. Although the Gods of Destruction are constantly in this state due to their nature as destroyers, Vegeta requires a new transformation to accommodate this destructive power.
Ultra Ego's main ability is the opposite of Ultra Instinct, where the latter requires the user to be incredibly calm so that the body instinctively reacts to attacks so that the user doesn't waste time thinking about dodging. Ultra Ego, however, makes the user even stronger with the higher damage they take, meaning their next attack will be much more powerful than the previous ones.
Pity is nothing more than fuel to me. Do you know what that means? I'm only getting stronger!
As the name suggests, Vegeta becomes lenient to attacks he takes in the forehead, causing damage, so his next attack will be even stronger than before. Where Ultra Instinct is the perfect defense, Ultra Ego serves as the perfect attack. However, this is where the form's biggest flaw exists, as the user of this transformation can end up taking more damage than they can deal, potentially leading to their defeat.
At this point, Ultra Ego is as strong if not stronger than Ultra Instinct, but since Vegeta has only used this form once without training, it is very unrefined, similar to Ultra Instinct Omen. One way to make Ultra Ego as powerful as Ultra Instinct is if, through training, Vegeta's body becomes extremely durable, similar to how Goku's body was in his mastered Ultra Instinct form. This way, the damage he takes won't hurt him as long as he still gets the benefits of the transformation, making his subsequent attacks even more powerful.
It has been shown that even though the main power of this transformation is the ability to grow stronger with each damage it takes, the amount of damage it takes can still be too much for it to handle. This can cause Vegeta to shut down mid-fight, as seen against Granola and Gaz. However, when his durability increases to the point where regular attacks don't damage him, Ultra Ego's potential is skyrocketing!
Disadvantages in terms of design
Ultra Ego is a uniform that has a slightly disjointed design. While most fans of the series love how Vegeta looks with his spikier hair, destroyer aura, and overall feral appearance, there are a few detractors who feel that the look of the transformation leaves a lot to be desired. Some fans of the series believe that Vegeta's long-awaited foray into the realm of the Divine Techniques as the God of Destruction should have seemed more regal.
First, many people think that the lack of eyebrow shape just makes Vegeta weird. While this was most likely a deliberate choice, as it depicts him as an extremely powerful and dangerous character with the ability to destroy entire planets at will, like all Gods of Destruction, some felt that he looked too animalistic. Moreover, many believe that the form would look much better if Vegeta kept his signature black hair instead of going purple.
Freaky Face Mode…?! It's called Ultra Ego, fool!
Many fan art and theories claim that Vegeta's hair became long like Super Saiyan 3 as a throwback to a form that the prince never achieved. If the sequel does in fact have a mastered Ultra Ego, the appearance of the transformation could be quite different from what fans have seen so far, though what they have now is still an amazing form that puts Vegeta back in the conversation of the strongest Dragon ball symbols!
