What to expect from Destiny 2 in 2025
Destiny 2's plans for 2025 include a new expansion model, gameplay changes, an overhaul of various systems, and a new direction for the game's narrative.
Ahead of The Dawning, Bungie announced a new Destiny 2 A community challenge where players are tasked with baking special treats for NPCs for each of three weeks to unlock special rare emblems. Known as Candy Shop Commander, Epicurean Extraordinaire, and Hunter Artisan, the three emblems feature a trio of avant-garde characters with unique colors and patterns. The more goals the community overcomes, the easier it will be to unlock these emblems by unlocking A Gift In Return.
The first week that ended helped unlock the Confectionary Commander emblem and Bungie revealed how many cookies Destiny 2 NPC Commander Zavala had to eat as the community worked together. As it turns out, players have given over 3 million Gjallardoodles to the Vanguard commander. Over the next few days, players will need to bake treats for Ikora, Eva Levante, and Tramp to help unlock the Great Epicurean emblem.
While the community has broken down the goals for week 1, they will have to wait a little longer to see if the goal was met in the second round. Destiny 2 has entered a difficult phase in its life as players continue to leave the game for various reasons, as many have seen the Steam population plummet in recent times. The drop was attributed to a few different reasons, whether it was general boredom, downtime between acts, or the fact that Episode Revenant saw a ton of bugs and issues. Either way, Bungie may be facing a bigger challenge for the future of the game.
